Interview with Mikrowelle, December 2006
NB - Tell me how long Mikrowelle exist and how did you start?
M - This isn't so easy to say. Sometime in the end of the 90's, I was for a studio stay in america, I discovered my first instro-record. I found it absolut great, bought me some days later my mustang and wanted to found a really big band with brass instruments, but I've never found the right people. So I began to make music with my computer. 2003 I was the first time with mikrowelle on stage, the songs I made bevor over a time of three years. When the band, in which I played in this time, disolved, I started to send some demo-tapes.
NB - Did you play in other bands before and do you have any projects now?
M - I played from 1992 2002 in the techno-metal-band think about mutation ( www.tam-net.de) the bass. Since two years I play bass in the band krieger ( www.krieger-musik.de) - we make some kind of hard blues-rock. Our debut-album will be out with the beginn of 2007.
NB - Your LP is the most crazy and weird surf record I ever heard. I guess you are the first surf band that uses so much electronica, or should I say first electro band with surf guitar? How would you describe your music?
M - I call it elekrto-surf :-)!
NB - Can you tell me which instruments you use, and if you also use computer?
M - The whole album came in to being in my living room on my computer. The guitar is a fender mustang, for the basses I use a 303 clone from man or a nordlead, the most of the drumsounds are from a roland tr66 rhythm arranger, for the vox I used a vocoder from man or my old atari. And a sampler and a lousy soundmodul were also used.
NB - Tell me about Mikrowelle members?
M - Mikrowelle are Peter G. & his PC and since two years the elektrodrummer QNO.
NB - Hearing your music, you probably have lot of different stuff in your record collection? What are your all-time favorite albums?
M - yes, you are right, i have a quite big record-collection. I limit my answer on some, which come to my mind spontanously:

NB - 3 things you hate most?
M
1. plagiats
2. an empty beerbox

NB - f you won 1 million Euros on lottery, what would you do with all that money?
M
I do'nt play lotto, but probably i would by a house in the caribic and die because of to much drugs and alkohol.
NB - What is Mikrowelle doing at the moment?
M
enjoy the winter.
NB - Do you play live often and where? Can we expect you in Holland soon?
M - In the moment we dont play so much live, because i have so much to do the band krieger.. but in the last years we were often on tour, for instance in italy, switzerland and austria. In holland we havnt been till now.
NB - There seem to be lot of weird surf bands in Germany (I also like Los Banditos and other crazy stuff on Kamikaze records), but maybe you can recommend some other bands?
M - I would recommend leopold kraus wellenkapelle and achtung rakete. And i like the stuff which are published by the switzer label voodoo rhythm rec.
