Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 << prev: interview with Los Banditos

When I saw the sleeve of Frankenstein Drag Queens From PLanet 13 "Night Of The Living Drag Queens" LP in record shop I thought - WOW this girl band looks great!!!!! I went straight to hear it and after 1st few chords Frankenstein Drag Queens From PLanet 13 blew up my ears - it sounded too hard for a girl band. And when I heard the voice I looked better at the picture of  3 zombies on the record sleeve and realized they were not girls - they were zombie girls!!! So I present to you Wednesday 13 (guitar + vocals)!!!!

NBZ:
Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 - very long name, why?
W13:
We try to make things as difficult as possible and having a long name was part of the plan...to annoy writers and to take up all the space on the billboard space at venues
NBZ:
Can you tell me something about Planet 13?
W13:
It is square...not round like earth. The air is thin and the smell is very bizarre. The people there are intelligent and have bad hair, skin, and teeth.
NBZ:
How did Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 start?
W13:
We formed in March 96 and and started our assault on the planet. Our mission is to attack and kill...period.
NBZ:
Did you play in some other bands before Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13?
W13:
Zero and I were in a group called Maniac Spider Trash, a heavy metal shock rock quartet, I was just the vocalist and resorted to guitar duties when the Drag Queens formed. Seaweed was in a band called Body Lice who played African American festivals...however they were not always a welcome at the events.
NBZ:
In song "Graverobbing U.S.A." from your 7" you say you came to this planet to collect body parts - go graverobbing. It must be lot of fun. Do you have other missions on planet Earth?
W13:
Yes, our mission is to brainwash all earthlings and force them to worship us, just like Jesus Christ...I mean isn't that what preachers do at church? NBZ:
You're zombies, right? How long have you been dead already? I would like to know something about your life before you died.
W13:
We are dead, but our previous lives cannot be discussed do to legal settlements which prevent us from doing so.
NBZ:
You are probably horror movies fan - what are your favorites?
W13:
Favorites? Texas Chanisaw 1 and 2, The Shinning, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, Dawn of the Dead, Frankenstein, Phantasm, The Wolfman, Halloween, Hellraiser..the list goes on.
NBZ:
Being a zombie I guess you don't like the way they treat your kind in horror movies. What do you think about "Braindead" - best horror movie ever for me?
W13:
The zombies in those movies aren't real, we are. I know it is just a movie so I am not bothered by it. However Braindead was an intresting movie, not one of my faves, but good.
NBZ:
"Night Of The Living Drag Queens" is great album with many fantastic songs. One of them is "Rambo" - why song about Rambo?
W13:
I am a fan of movies period, Horror, Action, Comedy it doesn't matter. Rambo is a very cool character, and in my opinion First Blood and Rambo 2 are the best action movies ever, I grew up admiring this character and felt it was time to pay tribute to him.
NBZ:
Which big rock star would you send to "Motel Killafornia"?
W13:
All of them..we hate everyone.
NBZ:
On your LP there are horror songs, but also songs with real punk rock attitude like "I Don't Wanna Be Your Friend". What are your favorite punk rock bands?
W13:
The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Plasmatics, Dead Boys.
NBZ:
"Going To Hell" is last song on this LP. What would be Drag Queens' "commandments" for kids who want to follow you straight to hell?
W13:
The 13 commandments are...
 1. quit school
 2. quit breathing
 3. drink milk
 4. dont brush your hair
 5. run over animals on the road
 6. eat meat
 7. use bad language
 8. use violence
 9. Kill others.
 10. take drugs
 11. sell the drugs you take
 12. watch TV
 13. Thu shalt not care
NBZ:
If I have to compare your music with some other bands i would say - the best Dwarves' songs and early Misfits stuff. What do you think about these bands?
W13:
I love the Dwarves and the Misfits..I prefer the newer Misfits stuff though.
NBZ:
"The Late, Late, Late Show" ...Debut CD is sold out - can we expect it to be re-released?
W13:
Possibly, no plans as of yet...maybe in 2001.
NBZ:
Is your new CD "Songs from The Recently Deceased" available now - I can't wait to hear your version of "Riders On The Storm". Can we expect more new stuff also on 7"s?
W13:
The new record will be out on People Like You Records in December. Followed by tons of singles and a live album expected in March/April. Also  www.frankensteindragqueens.com  will be up and running soon.
NBZ:
"Night Of The Living Drag Queens" is re-released on german label. Are you coming to graverob Europe soon?
W13:
A tour has been discussed for spring 2001...we will see.
