NB
Can you introduce the band?
M
MOTOSIERRA is only pleasure that four guys have in the wrong place of the world,
it's our theraphy against this fuckin' and shitty reality, and it's the only thing we can do right
NB
When and how did you start?
M
We started around two years ago, when our others bands colapsed we thinked to do something more dangerous and violent and MOTOSIERRA was born, we
don't wanna be nice boys...but here nobody cares at all.
NB
Did you play in other bands before Motosierra?
M
in a differents underground bands, like Chicos Eléctricos, Cross, La Sudaka, etc. Those bands have some local success in the 90's. But now that's an old
story.
NB
You are the first band from Uruguay I heard playing this kind of music. Are there more similair bands in Uruguay and Latin America?
M
Not in Uruguay, it's all more focused on latin sounds and pop music and a little bit of metal, definitlly that's not place for Rock and Roll, maybe in Buenos Aires (Argentina ) or Sao Paulo (Brasil) you can listening something similar. We played regular in Buenos Aires with bands like Killer Dolls, Satan Dealers, She-Devils, Elio and thee Horribles, and it was cool. It seems there's a scene on the way, but it grows slowly.
NB
Tell me more about life in Uruguay, specially Montevideo. Are there many clubs and places to go out...?
M
Ever think about beeing living in the borest place in the world, and, what's worst, nobody knows what means that thing called rock? Sure, you can find many fans of Manu Chao! That's not our stuff, you know. And it's really hard find some place where you can play or simply have some fun.
NB
You released record for Incognito records and maybe there will be more releases in Europe? Are there labels who release this kind of stuff in Uruguay and on which label was your 1st album released?
M
Our first record was released in Argentina by No Fun Records, and we're lucky, because if not, we could stay years searching somebody who wants to put this crap out in Uruguay. Incognito Records will reedited our full lenght "XXX" on vinyl with two bonus track, and you can find a promotional 7" by the same label
NB
Do you play lot of gigs and how is it organized there?
M
Since the band was born, we try to play here the most we can. We play on every circunstance, from small clubs with a dog walking and a native dancing around to a cool gigs in theatres. Ninety percent it's always self made shows, but always it's a weird night.
NB
Now tell me about yourselves. Can you live from your music or you have jobs?
M
Forget about living of music in Uruguay, never, NEVER you can do that, don't you listen to your mother? Amazingly, we're four rich sales man! We sell guitars (Luis), books (Marcos), insurances (Gabriel), and shoes supplies (Walo)! We're on a PunkRock band, We sell, You buy.
NB
Which bands do you like and what are you biggest influences?
M
OHH!! The question...we're really rock addicts, perhaps the most here. From Elvis to Zeke, we like it all what's good (or bad). We're based on Turbonegro (we're the only four oficially Turbojugends here), Dwarves, Motorhead, Hellacopters, Nashville Pussy, Candy Snatchers...etc, etc, etc. All that it's fast and loud and snooty. But to be true, right now we're listening to the Pistols.
NB
What do you like most and what do you hate most?
M
We like easy living. Really. We love rock'n'roll, beer, dope, fuck, easy money (not yours!), all that you can call a twisted and a sinner way of living. We hate the rest of all.
NB
What is Motosierra planing to do in 2002? Any chance for European
tour?
M
First we're gonna record for Myrmecoleo Rec. in Japan our next album. In the middle, had a version of our debut on vynil. That really it's a dream. And next, try to take this thing out of here in every way we can. some offert?
