Interview with The Juicy Zooters, 13 January 2006

NB - Please introduce yourself!
JZ - I'm Erik Zooter, I do bass and vocals, then we've got Juicy Joe who likes banana's and plays the drums, then there's Bucket on good looks and guitar and Pete for President who sings and plays guitar on that Gibson he goes on and on about, like how much better it is than Danny's Telecaster.

NB - Tell me short story about Juicy Zooters - how old are you, how did you meet, when and how did you start the band...?
JZ - We all turned 17 this year. We know eachother from highschool and we started out to ruin the schoolparties there by playing punkrock songs, like the Spider Babies' "My Cock, Your Ass" and change the chorus to "Onze School Is Echt Kut" (Our School Is Really Cunt, it makes sense in Dutch). We had a good laugh, but it pissed off some teachers so after we pulled this off twice they didn't allow us to those parties anymore. So we started playing bars.

NB - You released a 10 song CD. Can you tell No Brains readers what are your songs about and what they can expect when they buy this CD?
JZ - Our songs are about all the things our parents think we don't do. The CD pretty much sounds like 10 trashy punkrock tunes recorded on a crappy 4track in an hour of one takers, 'cause that's what it is.

NB - Did you release this CD yourself? You are young and you just started the band - how did you get contacts for this? Jerry from Apers, produced it. Did he also help you with the rest?
JZ - This CD was released on Deviltown Records, the label of Erik's brother Bart Brainless, so it was easy blackmailing him into doing it. Jerry's also a brother of Erik, well, not really: his parents found him in a purple space egg in the garden one day, but that's a whole different story. Anyway, Jerry recorded and mixed the whole thing on a 4track and pretended he was Phil Spector or something. The only other thing he helped us out with was finishing our beers.

NB - What do your parents think of your music and your band?
JZ - Since I'm in the band, they've sold me for a new tv.

NB - You guys are still in school I guess. So, what is no.1 - school or band?
JZ - School, 'cause school's so much fun! We get free beer and make out with groupies even younger than ourselves! No, the band's numero uno.

NB - Do you play lot of gigs here in Holland and what kind of people come to see you?
JZ - Not that much. Since we're all 17 we don't have driver's licenses so it's not always easy getting there and we always need to wreck, eh, use another band's backline. Everybody who doesn't know us shows up, everybody who does stays home.

NB - What do you like to do in your free time? Girls? Hobbies? ...?
JZ - Girls. Hobbies are for losers who can't get girls.

NB - Anything you want to say to No Brains readers?
JZ - Vanya is sexy.
