NB
How did the band start?
R
We started in 1999 as a septet on the occasion of a party. We love 60's beat and surf music and everyone of us had expieriences in making live music -
why don't do a band. First this should be the only gig but in cause of fun we went on.
NB
You have that great east euro surf sound that I love so much. Which bands did influence you most?
R
We are mostly influenced by the east german beat music bands of the 60's like THEO SCHUMANN COMBO and DIE SPUTNIKS, but we also like the
ITALIEN LOUNGE BEAT Sound, traditional stuff like DICK DALE, THE VENTURES or THE SHADOWS or bands like the EURO BOYS or
TREBLE SPANKERS. We love popular east european melodies but mainly we are open for all kinds of music and different kinds of bands no matter
which style.
NB
Do you think that difference between (east) euro surf and american surf is big?
R
The traditional american style is more heavy and straight and it has just the typical Fender Sound. The euro style has more melody and it's more
many-sided and more lovely. Espacially in east germany it was not so easy to get professional equipment so that the bands often had to be creative and
built their own amps or effects. This home made equipment made the sound various and widespreaded and maybe that's the big difference.
NB
Soon you will release split with Los Banditos. That will be your first official release. Is it difficult to find label that wants to release your
stuff?
R
Maybe in Dresden it's a little bit more difficult to find a label but we don't tried very hard till now. We had an inquiry but it makes no sense to work with
someone together who is not willing to engage as best as possible. We make no stress and we look what's coming.
NB
I met some people who don't even want to hear any instrumental r'n'r. Did you have similair experiences and what do you think about that?
R
Now and then we meet such people, but I can say that the ones we mostly meet like the music, maybe because of the influence of Pulp Fiction. Well, I
think instrumental r'n'r is just no music for the taste of masses. It's an individual music, not suitable for playing in the normal radio or tv. Otherwise it's
an excellent party music but it's not so impressive for everyone like music with vocals. It's o.k., everyone should do what he wants but the ones who are
closed against this music don't know what they're missing. We don't need to convince someone.
NB
Can you live from your music or you have a job and what do you do?
R
Unfortunately everyone of us can't live from the music and has a job or is in a studium.
NB
You probably tour a lot in germany. Are you going to tour some other countries, maybe Holland, in near future?
R
Yes, we are planning some gigs in europe probably in autumn of next year, hopefully also in NL and the Benelux. I promise that you will timely hear
about. (t.b.c.)
NB
What's the craziest thing that happened on your gigs?
R
Maybe our gig in a big hall called "Lindenpark" in Potsdam last year. This hall holds nearly 4000 people and has a gigantic stage but the organizer missed
it to promote so that we had to play in front of 5 people. But it was very funny and we rocked like hell.
NB
Do lot of people come to see you? You probably have lot of female fans!?
R
It's very different. We did just play for 2 people and also for 2000 people. It depends on the party and the volume of promotion but fortunately we can
say that the clubs are mostly really good filled presupposed that the people know us and the location. It's particularly nice that girls like our music,
probably it makes them wanna more dance than boys. It's very pleasant to see pretty girls shakin' her body in the first rows but we are not interested in
any sexual activities ;-)
NB
Tell me how is it in Dresden? Do you have some weird instro-surf rock scene going on there??? Are there some other bands we didn't hear
yet, or some strange projects???
R
I really can't say that Dresden is Rock-City number 1 but it exists a fine r'n'r-scene. Bands we like are for instance THE EGYPTIAN GAY LOVERS
(Hardhittin'Race Punk'n'Roll) or THE NOMAD RIDERS (dirty whiskey r'n'r - www.riders.piranho.de) but I don't know any other instro-rock-band.
It's just a little moving music scene with all kinds of bands and dj's which have a stage in some very interesting clubs. You can really have a nice life here.
NB
What are your plans for future?
R
Becoming rich, naked and famous !
Also, to release 1 or 2 singles and our next full lenght album in the next year and playing live as often as possible.
NB
Anything you want to say to No Brains readers?
R
