Interview with Mr Bonz, March 2007
NB - Mr Bonz, 1st question I must ask - how did you decide to send your CD to No Brains Zine? You know No Brains Zine is not very fond of 1-2 man bands - hahaha.
MrB - Yes i know that you're not found of one man band's, and it's why i decide to send you my CD. NO BRAIN NO PAIN !!! And i wanted to have a review in your zine and what a surprise, you like my sound !!!! great...
NB - This is my 1st interview with 1 man band. How is it to do everything b yourself? Probably easy some way - no argues with others. But I always wondered how somebody decides to make music all by himself and not join the band.
MrB - I'm very proud to be the first one man band interviewed !!!
I like to do everything by myself, with my one man band i'm free, you know, i decide by myself, no argues with other... And if i play as a one man band today it's because i 've played with real bands in the past, and now i want to have new sensation....
NB - How do you play live. Is it just you and guitar? Or maybe you have some guest musicians? For me it's hard to imagine that one man live can fulfill the sound.
MrB - No guest, i'm solo with my drum, guitar, kazoo, harmo and my voice. You know one night i was playing in a good club with a very good sound, someone came to see me at the end of my show, because when he arrived at the club he was thinking to ear a real 4 pieces band but when he arrived in front of me he was fucked up to see that i was only and making such noise....he ehe hee
NB - How did you start to listen to music? What was the 1st record you ever bought?
MrB - I sart listen music when i was very young. My parents arn't musicians and they never bought cd's, but i was always listening radio. My first record i haven't buy it, i've found it in the street (someone forget his bag) so i've listen these lp's a the age of 12 and it was the sex pistols "live", the clash and punk and disordely 1 and 2.
NB - You played in Wangs. What happened to them? When was Mr Bonz born?
MrB - I played lead guitar with the wangs (surf music from paris) and we've made our very last show in march 2003. We decide to stop 'cause Jean our second guitarist plan to move to Toulouse (south of France) and i was planning to move to Rennes (ouest of France) so it was a little difficult for us to play... And Mr Bonz was born when i arrived in Rennes in 2004/05. My first show was in january 05.
NB - What did you release so far?
MrB - Because i was too busy in Paris, i have my family, my two bands and my two works. I have worked 45 hours a week, so i hadn't time for my one man band, and it's why i release so far .....NO pain !!!
NB - Your favorite one man bands?

NB - Tell me about yourself? How you like to spend your time, things you like, things you hate...?

My name is Michel, i'm 33 years old and i leave in Rennes. I like to spend my time with my beautiful wife and my two kids, i love riding my old simca 58, i love doing fiesta with my friends and listning good music "live". I love nature but i hate hippies.

NB - What is Mr Bonz doing at the moment? New recordings, touring...? Can we expect you in Holland?
MrB - I'll love to put out an LP or an 7" very soon. I'm gonna certainly make some new songs on an old school recording tape. I'll love to make a video. No plan for touring for the moment but i'll love to play in holland, of course...
NB - Anything you want to say for the end?
