The Nerds << prev interview with The Nerds | next>> interview with The Boonaraaas

Here is a very very short interview with The Dwarves. The guys were probably too lazy to give longer answers. Maybe I should start doing multiple choice questions - ha ha ha. But what the hell - they are great band and as long as they keep making great music they can be as lazy as they want if you ask me - hi hi hi.

NB
Dwarves exist for years now and your music changed - from your 1st album which is pure garage punk to even using techno in some songs on your last LP - "Come Clean". So you probably like different stuff - do you also like techno and how did you come to idea to mix it with punk?
D
The Dwarves are all things to all people.
NB
Can we expect more techno punk on upcoming releases?
D
Expect the unexpected.  We'll let other punk bands do the same thing over and over again.
NB
What do you think about garage punk scene today? Lot of the bands are in my opinion just a bad copy of some old bands and there are no innovations. Are there any new bands that you like?
D
We mostly like weird old records and weird new records.  Copy stuff is a little tedious.  Especially garage charmkins.
NB
Your lyrics are very violent, but your songs are very catchy and  poppy - why that combination?
D
Because violence is fun!
NB
How violent are you guys really? I remember your last gig in Amsterdam - Blag tried to provoke the audience - they were probably too tame???!!! Do you have fights with audience sometimes?
D
It depends if we're satiated with drugs and teenage women beforehand.
NB
Is "he who can not be named" always naked on the stage and why?
D
Because he looks so good with his clothes off.
NB
What do you prefer drugs or alcohol?
D
Yes.
NB
What do you think about Epitaph? Your records are all I have from that label - the rest sucks.
D
Epitaph was cool when they were giving us lots of cash.  Now they're just Epitaph again.
NB
Who were the members of Suburban Nightmare and tell me more about them?
D
There was Julius Seizure, Herr Pete, Pete Vietnam and Hal Low.  They all went on to get other funny names and play on Dwarves records.  Now they all drool into a paper cup and dream about the old days.
NB
I have Suburban Nightmare LP on tape. Are you ever going to re-release it - it's so difficult to get it and it's great stuff?
D
It has been rereleased.  The "Lick-It!" CD has all that stuff and more.
NB
What's your favorite Dwarves record and song?
D
I like Blood Guts and Come Clean.  Two sides of the wrong coin.
NB
When can we expect some new releases?
D
Check the merch list below.
NB
When are you coming to Holland again?
D
No plans to tour right now, but you never know.
NB
Is there anything you want to say to No Brains readers?
D
Dwarves love you, so take your clothes off and listen!

Look for a new DWARVES CD on GREEDY - February 2002.
