EATEN ALIVE
Director: Umberto Lenzi
Cast: Robert Kerman, Janet Agren, Me Me Lai |

I read lot of bad things about this movie, but I'm glad I saw it after all. Well, I understand why most of the critics didn't like it - it's not some arty shit movie, but really good cannibal movie with lot of violence and nudity!! Some say - bad acting. Well I've seen much much much worse in tones of more expensive Hollywood movies. So don't pay attention to what others say and just see this cool Italian trash movie from 1980. Story is pretty much simple. Adventures in New Guinea with cannibals, weird religious sect, all flavored by pervert rituals, sex, violence and lot of blood. 100% pure cult - just the way I like.

THE EVIL IDOLS "DON'T MESS WITH ..." CD, Laja Records 2004 |
 |
One more cool CD from South America loaded with fast angry dusty garage punk sounds. The Evil Idols are from Brazil. Could be compared with New York Dolls, Pistols meet Motorhead meet Crypt bands + huge South American charm and temperament. Fast rockin' riffs, screamy vocal, crude and loud production and 12 short tracks. I really like vocal - screamy and vicious. My faves are "Fall Down And Get Up", "Get Me High And Id Die For You", "Lady Hurricane" (with a bit 70s riff and good guitar solos), and "The Fucking Dot That Ends A Story"...

| THEE EXCITERS "JOHNNY'S TOO MESSED UP/OUT OF MY HANDS/MUMMY'S LITTLE BOY", Delincuentes Records 2004 |
 |
I really like the new wave of UK garage punk. I was little bit tired of Billy Childish and similar bands. Real Losers, Hells, Unchayned, Mighty Stars are real refreshment, not only for UK, but for garage scene in general. Thee Exciters are one more cool band. I guess they are from London, as the songs were recorded there. You probably remember the review of their demo CD, well this 45 is a bit different - more garage with great fuzz riffs and drummer with good groove. Vocal is a bit less screamy and more angry. Anyway, Thee Exciters are getting better. 3 tracks - all 3 real killers. My fave is "Mummy's Little Boy". Production is cool - Thee Exciters found their own sound. I heard from a friend they were great live too. Contact these guys and get this 7"!!!!

| FABIENNE DELSOL "NO TIME FOR SORROWS" CD, Damaged Goods Records 2004 |
 |
Fabienne Delsol is French girl living in London. Probably you know her from The Bristols. "No Time For Sorrow" is really great. Kinda tribute to 60s UK mod freakbeat and French ye ye girl beat. Half album are covers and the other songs are mainly written by her guitar player. Production and sound are really awesome. Press release says that Liam Watson did it in Toe Rag Studio and he spent, together with Fabienne, over 3 years working on this album. The result is really cool neo 60s mod girl pop album. From covers I like "Laisse Tomber Les Filles" the most, and from non covers "I'm Gonna Haunt You" and "No Time For Sorrows". Fabienne has sexy voice, but I miss little bit more tempo. Cool album for late night hours.

| THEE FLYING DUTCHMEN "DANCE DANCE" 7"EP, Boom Boom Records
|
 |
I don't really understand the hype around this band. I saw them live and I didn't like them a lot. It was more an act than straight from heart. Anyway, 7" is pretty good. It's chaotic like their live gig, very trashy sound with slight Mummies influence, but it functions OK on EP.
