| D.E.K. "RIGHT NOW IN A MINUTE" CDr, Broken Bonez Records 2003

D.E.K. are hardcore punk, I think somewhere from Texas. Not so bad, not so good - not really my taste. But listening to the CD, I must addmit they are really weird cos they don't play 100% pure hardcore punk. Here and there they add some old school 77 style punk, catchy chorus, loads of samples from 50s and 60s movies, some surf nonsence. They keep your attention and you can listen to them even if you don't like this kind of music, like me. So guys, I think this is actually a positive review. If other hardcore punk bands were like this, who knows, maybe I would listen to them.

THE DIVEBOMB HONEY "GET UP" 7"EP, Jilted Records |
 |
Unbeliveable stuff here. Divebomb Honey sound pretty early 80s new wave punk with cool keyboard sound and fuckin' great poppy melodies. Everything is just great. I adore these guys. Cool girl vocal - nice raw and not screamy, just the way I like. 4 tracks - all 4 killers, so my favorites are: "Get Up", "Pants On Fire", "You Wanna?!", "Kinky Kinky".

Cool, old school trash punk. Nice fast and trashy, but not too trashy. Both tracks are real killers. A must have in every trash punk collection.

Really great and fantastic ska. 4 tracks - 3 instrumental and 1 vocal. No punk or other influences, maybe slight latin touch. Great horn section in the best Skatelites style. I hope to hear more from these guys 'cos they are really super super great and probably even better live.

| FLAKES "STRAIGHT JACKET" 7"EP, Black Juju 2004 |
 |
Fantastic late 70s style punk power pop from Sweden. "She's So Natural" is a real killer, catchy as hell chorus, loud punk power pop guitars and great a bit new wave vocal. The most fascinating that The Flakes sound like they are picked up straight from 1979. If you like Buzzcocks and all that UK power pop, I'm sure you will fall in love with The Flakes. Great band and I hope they'll have full length soon.
