GLYN BAILEY "TOYS FROM BALSA" CD, 2005
Sometimes I really ask myself why some people send some CDs for review in No Brains Zine. Glyn Bailey is one of them. I really don't know what to write about this kinda pop - pretty borring. I tried to listen to this CD, but I just kept skipping to next song. This is not my bottle of beer and I give it up. Sorry Glyn.

THE HEKAWIS "INTELECTUALS" CD, Wild Eagle Records
The Hekawis are veterans of Australian garage punk scene and they already released some stuff. Personaly I was never a big fan, so I don't know how many albums they released exactly, but this is, I guess, the latest one. They play some kind of neo 60s garage punk in Back From The Grave / Pebbles style and quite trashy - fuzz guitars vs organ, screamy vocal... It's OK, but I miss a bit of magic. Still some tunes that I like: "Changeling", "My Complication", "Tigerman", "Not My Girl" and "Don't Know My Name". Anyway, I think Hekawis drank a bit too much beer and it was probably too warm, so I miss a bit of energy here.

LADYBOOSTER "LO-FI TRASH ROCK AND ROOLL" DEMO CD
This is 2 mand band, and you know that I'm always scaptical about that new hype in garage scene. But Ladybooster are really cool and songs are really great. They do it with lot of alcohol and that fits their style perfectly. Dirty, pervert, garage blues punk - I don't know how to call it. Sounds just great for small bars where beer is the only thing you can drink, unless you want to drink something stronger. 12 songs with really dirty and trashy guitar, crazy drums and raw half drunk vocal. It's hard to pick favorites, but here are few: "The Womans Square", "Baby Wants To Fuck" (great, only a bit too short), "Rip Off Blues" (instro), "Jesus" and "Wild Ass Baby".

LAMPS - s/t LP, In The red Records 2005
Well, when you see such sleeve, you really don't know what you can expect. Honestly, when you play the record, music doesn't have much to do with the sleeve. It's very raw and primitive and maybe that's what they wanted to say with the monkey giving milk to human baby. I hate when I'm in philosophical mood, so I'll go straight to music. Lamps have their own style and it's weird mix of, I guess, stuff they like to listen. I hear Cramps, Stooges, early Devo, Pussy Galore and bunch of minimalistic post punk wave bands as well as trash garage. Can't really tell you which tracks are my faves, 'cos there is no track listing on sleeve - just on labels and I get a headache trying to read while the record spins - hahaha.

LOS RAW GOSPELS "EL FANTASMA" 7"EP, Dull City Records 2005
Super cool and trashy as hell garage punk with psychobilly flavor. 2 guitars + drums, no bass - these guys kick ass!!!! I already wrote lot of superlatives about their demo CD. This is more or less in the same style, but this sounds even better. Very wild super raw mindblowing songs - The Monsters have competition. This is probably my fave Dull City record.
