SLOGGY "ROADMOVIE" CD, Hell On Wheels Recordings
Sloggy was always a strange band, but now I really don't know what to say. This album starts like some psychedelic wave in style of early 80s Chrome. 3rd song "Dirt Track Romance" is more electro wave with guitar (in Sloggy style). "Figure 8 race" is industrial surf noise - really weird and cool. Anyway, this new Sloggy album "Roadmovie" is masterpiece of home recorded minimal music. Mix of different styles: post punk, industrial, punk and new wave - all spiced up with lot of noise and psychedelic wave guitars. After many releases Sloggy can still surprise us and that's big plus.

SOVIET VALVES "FUN, SAFE AND ANONYMOUS" DEMO CD, 2005
2nd demo CD of Australian Soviet Valves. "Fun, Safe And Anonymous" is much better then their first demo. The sound is more compact and their music more straight to the point. It's kinda post punk new wave played with 2 guitars and drums - sounds weird, but it works good by Soviet Valves. 6 songs that can be compared with early Gang Of Four, Wire and Franz Ferdinand, but more punk. Big refreshment are violas in "Sight That Harms/Gaze That Harms". Lot of pluses for really great singer Milos (really charizmatic vocal that you can compare with Ian Curtis in Warshaw period) and drummer James. My faves on this Cd are: "Notwithstanding", "Sight That Harms/Gaze That Harms" and Crossover Angst". I htink it's really the highest time that this band get proper release cos, Soviet Valves are Gavrilo Princip for Franz Ferdinand.

THE SPINOFFS "STRAIGHT LEATHER JACKET" CD, AMP Records 2004
Canadian punk quite poppy - not really modern (I mean not like Green Day and that kind of shitty bands), but also not really oldfashioned. Some Ramones and Descendents influences, short songs - 1and half minute is long for these guys, pretty catchy and pretty cool.

THE STONEAGE HEARTS "GUILTY AS SIN' CD, Alive Records 2005
The Stoneage Hearts (featuring Don Mariani from famous Australian garage band The Stems) new album is really big surprise. Their EP on Butterfly Records was pretty cool, but this is much much better. Really good produced modern garage with 60s and 70s influences. 11 tracks - and all 11 are my faves. Cool riffs, only "Green With Envy" is "Touch" rip off (Dutch Outsiders). But who cares, cos it's great song. The Stoneage Hearts have that typical Australian sound we all love like The Saints, Radio Birdman etc., but they are bit more garage. What I really love about this band is that they took 77 style punk, r'n'r and garage and mixed them all into their own style. Songs are quite different and it's all done so well that it just blows your mind. It's not easy to pick out favorites, but I just couldn't resist to try: "Eye Of A Lie", "Green With Envy", "Rock'n'Roll Boys And Rock'n'Roll Girls", "Your Greed", "Get Down" and "Sick Of You" - one of the best songs I heard lately.

SURFIN POOBARS S/T CD, 2004
Surfin Poobars from Australia start this CD as some kind of hard rockin' punk. Songs are mid tempo with quite heavy riffs. They sound like the missing link between Nashwille Pussy and Hellacopters with touch of Dwarves (singer reminds me of Blag). You can also hear garage and r'n'b influences. But after few songs, it all becomes great glam punk'n'roll. I must say I like Surfin Poobars a lot cos they put accent on melodies and good songs. Lot of goodies here, my faves are: "Motherfuckin", "Pitty She's A Whore", "Sex In Public Places" (Stooges "No Fun" rip off) and "Huge Woman Reducer" (probably my fave here with great chorus that I can't get out of my head). Surifn Poobars will be touring Europe soon and if you miss them, you will miss a lot. I can only hope they will make it to Holland.
