| THEY FIGHT CRIME "MADE FOR EACHOTHER" CD EP, Stagedive 2004
|

When you see the sleeve and the name of the band, you know this can't be any good. When I saw it in my mailbox, I thought what the fuck is this - a soldier, police officer and some stupid kid. "Made For Each Other" is terribly borrig brit pop. I hope these guys don't read No Brains Zine. If you do, why you make such stupid music?

LOS TORMENTOS "GRAB YOUR BOARD!" CD, Lost Tiki Records, Scatter Records 2004 |
 |
Fantastic surf band from Argentina Los Tormentos playin "15 surfin' and skateboardin' hits". Actually this is pure surf. You can listen to it while skateboardin', I'm sure, but what I mean is, this has nothing to do with those skate punk bands. Album is loaded with reverb guitar and thundering amps, wild rhythm and fantastic melodies. As I said 15 songs, 1st and last one is song called Tormentos. My favorites are: "Moon Over Marine" (really cool Dead Kennedys cover), "Blue Eyed Little Baby", "Santa Clara Del Mar", "El Justiciero" (maybe the best song on this CD, fantastic spaghetti latin western surf) and "The Impostor". I think Los Tormentos could use some latin and bossa touch, but who knows - maybe in the future... Anyway, really great CD. A must have for surf lovers.

UPLIFTED "FED FROM THE HEART" CD, 2003 |

Uplifted are Dutch punk hardcore, or something like that. I really don't know all these new modern styles in hardcore punk scene. Anyway, this is 5 song EP. Not bad, but I'm really not the right person to review such stuff.

| THE WEAKLINGS "ROCK-N-ROLL OWES ME" LP, Dead Beat Records |
 |
Promo sheet says this is vinyl only release. Well, Weaklings were always around and I heard some of their stuff, but I was never really a fan. Of course this doesn't mean the band is not good, it's just me and my taste. Let's say, they're not very attractive - hahaha, just joking of course. But to be honest "Rock-N-Roll Owes Me" is really cool record. 2nd song "On With The Show" really kicked me straight in the head. It's really great combination of garage, heavy metal and 70s hard rock in AC/DC style, but then with good sense for humor. I love these backing vocals. AC/DC influences are really strong on this album, cool guitar riffs and vocal. Don't understand me wrong, this is not heavy metal or hard rock album, this is punk! Songs are fast and punk rockin' enough! 11 songs and my faves are: "On With The Show", "Spray", "Far Too Long", "Layin' Low Drinkin' " and "Little Boys Play".

| ZOMBINA AND THE SKELETONS "MONDO ZOMBINA!" CD-EP |
 |
Fantastic UK horror rock. It's not like Cramps, It's not psychobilly, it's not garage, it's not ... I don't know what, but it sounds really great to me. Cool catchy melodies with horror lyrics and really weird, but very catchy melodies. Zombina And The Skeletons mixed different old fashioned styles from 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and exotica in their own - pop beat with slight vaudeville touch and even ska ("Spring Heeled Jack") + Mexican Latin sphere ("Counting On Your Suicide"). It's really hard to describe their style with the words. Everything is great here from girl vocals to their image, only production could be better. I really hope to hear more from Zombina And the Skeletons in the future. If you find this CD-EP, just get it - you will ask for more I'm sure.
