THE BLOODY TEARS "DOWNHANDED" CD, Licorice Tree Records 2005
The Bloody Tears are new refreshment and big surprise on Licorice Tree Records, Austin, Texas. Licorice Tree Records is new label and all they releases so far were really top stuff, including this CD. OK, now few words about The Bloody Tears. It's some kind of garage punk with strong r'n'b roots, songs are fast played really dirty with great r'n'b garage guitar sound, harp, organ and great vocal. If you expect pure neo 60s sound maybe you will be disappointed, they go more into direction of UK pub rock bands like Dr. Feelgood, early 9 Below Zero improved with great American souly garage sound. Fantastic band for smoky clubs where you can get drunk from gallons of beer. 12 songs, here and there some covers. All great. Get this CD as soon as possible and have real good time with The Bloody Tears!

THE BONNIE PARKERS "SWEATY SHIRTS AND BLOODY FINGERS" CD, Be Nice To Mommy 2003
Bonnie Parkers are 3 Italian punk guys. Musically it's kbd punk with a bit of garage and here and there some new wave. It's OK, but nothing new or different. I have a feeling this band is better live. Don't get me wrong, all in all this CD is far from something boring. Mix between punk garage and wave is done differently than most US bands do, and that's what I like about Bonnie Parkers. It's more punk and songs are fast and solid. Maybe the vocal could have been recorded a bit louder - it would be more powerful.

CALISTO "TRUE NATURE UNFOLDS" CD, Fullsteam Records 2004
Huh, Calisto is some kind od death doom metal with growling vocal, pretty slow and dark with some gothic elements. I don't know, not really stuff I listen to and I also don't know much about this stuff. I'm afraid this CD ended in wrong hands, I'm really not the good person to review this - sorry.

CANDY SNATCHERS "UGLY ON THE OUTSIDE" CD, Roulette's Records
Huh, Candy Snatchers are pretty popular in Holland and lot of my friends dig them a lot. I never did, probably because of the vocal - but what can I do?! "Ugly On The Outside" is actually not a new album, but a compilation of rare 45s and songs from compilations and tribute to albums.

COL. KNOWLEDGE AND THE LICKITY-SPLITS "FALL IN LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN WITH..." CD, Alive Records 2005
Col. Knowledge And The Lickity-Splits are some kind of souly mod neo 60s garage. Recorded lo-fi, but still nicely produced. Strong 60s influence is obvious, but Col. Knowledge And The Lickity-Splits try to find their own way in it. Their melody lines have lot in common with 70s power pop, so it all sounds pretty weird. Organ is pretty dominant and guitars are pretty fuzzed with souly mod vocal. 14 cool tracks, my faves are: "Comin' On Fast", "Sleep Through The Day", "Don't Wanna Be Your Friend".
