DUNE BUGGY ATTACK BATTALION "CHILDREN OF THE RESURRECTION" CD, Deep Red Records 2004
Dune Buggy Attack Battalion is some kind of alternative indie pop with strong 60s influence. Primitive and slightly lo-fi production, strange songs that sound moody and after some time a bit monotone. Guitar is put through strange and a bit irritating effect on most of the songs. Something like flenger - I'm not sure. Best songs are when they press fuzz pedal, like: "Rubber Legs", "One Day Week" or "LSD-25" (old fashioned psych with loads of strange effects and sounds).

THE FEELERS "LEARN TO HATE THE FEELERS" CD, Dead Beat Records
The Feelers are one more US band who combines trash punk and new wave. Something like Catholic Boys, but not really - they have their own, pretty weird style. Quite lo-fi production and sonic fast songs with strong early 80s new wave influences. Vocal is somewhere between new wave and psychobilly with lot of reverb - pretty original and never heard something like that before. When you just hear first few tunes, it all sounds pretty chaotic, but later you get used to this sound and you start to like it. My favorites are "The Rev", "Next To You"... Anyway, I would still prefer that the production is a bit better. I think The Feelers are promising band and I hope their next album should be a killer too.

THE GENTLEMAN CALLERS "DON'T SAY WHAT IT IS" CD, Wee Rock Records 2005
The Gentleman Callers are really great garage with strong 60s influence. Well, it's a bit more in the 80s style. Loads of fuzz, backed with Vox organ, great vocal and super cool songs. 12 songs, all 12 killers filled with garage punk energy, lot of great fuzz riffs and solos. It's almost impossible to pick faves. Just check: "Hurt On Me", "You Oughta Know By Now", "It's All In Your Mind", "Treat Me So Bad", ... Definitely an album that will be on my top list for this year. Nothing new musically, but good things are better left unchanged. This is simply over the top quality garage punk.

THE HEXXERS "FREAKS WITH THE SAVAGE BEAT" CD, 2004, Golly Gee Records
The Hexxers are wild and primitive neo 60s garage with lot of fuzz, screams, manic songs and frat rock influences. If you didn't know that Hexxers were a new band, you would definitely think that they were one of the bands from the Back From The Grave compilation. Really fascinating revival, everything sounds like it was recorded 40 years ago. Songs are really wild and psychotic, great singer, great songs - mostly originals or covers of to me unknown stuff)... I hope to see these guys in Holland soon. Maybe on next Primitive Festival. When you hear Hexxers, you won't need your Seeds, 13th Floor Elevators records and you can also sell your Back From The Grave collection. These guys will rock your garage collection.

HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS "HEELS'N'WHEELS" CD, Get Hip Recordings 2005
High School Sweethearts are girl fronted band from US and they play some kind of mix between late 70s early 80s US punk with light power pop influences. 15 songs pretty catchy, not all of them are fast - some are mid tempo. Combination guitars + keyboard + female vocal remind me of Blondie and if you like that stuff, High School Sweethearts are definitely something for you.
