THE SALEM LIGHTS "SECRET CISTERN" CD, Dollar Record Records 2004
The Salem Lights are pretty cool band from San Francisco and they sound pretty oldfashion in 77 glam punk style. It's not very easy to compare them with some famous band. It's strange mix of stuff like Radio Birdman, Dictators or New York Dolls with Television, Richard Hell And Voidoids. But this is not how they exactly sound - they really have their own sound. Songs are mid tempo with good rockin'' riffs and cool solo guitar. I love the vocal and it's style give a special sound to The Salem Lights. It just fits perfectly with guitars and songs. My faves are: "Violent Film", "Cal Feral", "Goodbye"...
THE SELLCANCERS "EXOTIC CHARM" CD, Sazanami Label 2005
The Sellcancers are supercool exotica surf beat from Japan. Their music is great mix between weird Japanese humor, manic and thundering US surf beat + strong far east exotica touch. "Exotic Charm" has 13 songs, and all 13 are real killers. Sellcancers do it on a really cool way and songs are pretty different, so CD is a real pleasure to listen to. My faves are: "Sniper Fujiyama", "Typhoon Sand Beach", "Bamboo Escort", "Miss Umbrella" (fantastic melody - extremely charming tune), "Movin' On!", "A Sunny Downhill", ... Anyway, the more you listen to "Exotic Charm", I must admit the charm is really working and making your day nicer.

SLEEPY KID "MONDAY MORNING SMILE" CD, Get Hip 2004
Sleepy Kid is some kind of modern pop psych with late Beatles influence. Dreamy melody lines, awesome production with good feeling for details, nice and comfy vocal - somewhere between Lennon and McCartney and good songs. Sleepy Kid are from Claveland suburbs, but their sound is almost completely British. 10 songs. My faves are: "Ashes", "Monday Morning Smile", "Time's A Killer" with strange sound (like electric sitar).

THE SLURS "THE PROBLEM WITH ROCK'N'ROLL" CD, Record Records 2004
The Slurs are cool US snotty glam punk in 77 style. Think New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders And Heartbreakers, Dead Boys or some other less known US punk bands from same period. Short and r'n'r loaded songs with great glam punk riffs and catchy melodies. 13 songs, all killers. Great album - about such band you don't need to write stories. It's simple punk rock that you like or hate. I think it's genius to record such album - not everybody can do it, you really need talent for it and maybe some booze.

SONS OF OTIS "X" CD, Small Stone Records 2005
Sons Of Otis are doom stoner rock, very slow and super heavy with growling vocal. I can't say I really like it a lot. I guess you need some time to get used on this sound. It's not music I listen to every day, but after a while Sons Of Otis begin to work a bit hypnotic. Their heavy riffs and weird vocals + here and there some psychedelic effects start to get into your brain. Very dark, depressive and psychedelic sphere in "The Pusher", I also like "Help Me" and "Liquid Jam".
