BRONCO BILLY
"ALL NIGHT ALL RIGHT" CDr
no label

Bronco Billy is trio from Belgium. Their music is dirty high energy r'n'r , but sometimes they also like to change a bit and play for example great surf, of course with their own touch. We can also hear strong 70s hard rock influence mixed with blues and filtered through trash punk. Production is pretty dirty, but good enough that you can fully enjoy this pretty good and raw band. There are 12 songs in about 30 minutes. Bronco Billy has 2 lead vocalists - Bloodshed Bob and Chuck Nozem and they know how to create their own style - Bronco Billy give us their own vision of music they like. My favorites are "One-eyed Jack" (Blue Cheer meets early 70s Rolling Stones on Bronco Billy way), "Burning Dust" (more bluesy punk with great blues-surf-r'n'r guitar solo) and chaotic "Allright" where the vocal reminds me a lot of GG Allin or Dick Destiny. Anyway Bronco Billy really deserves much more than shitty CDr - so somebody PUT THIS ON VINYL!!!!

LOTHAR
"GHOSTBASTARDS" CD
Lorna Records 2001

It's very difficult to describe Lothar's music style. It's some kind of punk influenced by 70s hard rock, but also alternative bands from late 80s early 90s. Vocal, drums and keyboards sound pretty weird. One thing is for sure - Lothar is band who really has it's own style. You have to hear them few times cos it's not very catchy stuff, especially vocal (it reminds me a lot of Legendary Stardust Cowboy, only Jarvinen can sing good, but his style is very anarchistic). Musically Lothar are interesting enough to keep your attention and after 1-2 tracks you get used to their crazy style and you really start to like it. "Long Way Back From Austin, Texas" is pretty good and it breaks the ice. "Inspector Callahan" is great song too. I specially like keyboard which gives nice psychotics sphere. Talking about psychotic, "Ghostbastards" is great psych tune in crazy Lothar way. It's pity this is the last song on this CD. I hope I'll hear more from these guys.

THE MANGES
"THE MANGES 'R' GOOD ENOUGH" CD
Stardumb Records 2001

Manges are one more new band inspired by legendary Ramones. They are not one more Ramones copy, cos they give us their own vision of simple 3 chord pop punk. It's one more good band from Italy, but I have to make few objections: "Blame Game" should be shorter, production could be a bit more trashy and vocal could be just a little bit angry or aggressive (the best singing is in the song "I Hate Rats"). And now, songs I like: "I Hate Rats" (good punk), really great power pop are "80s Soldier" and "Now Or Never". "Goonies 'R' Good Enough" is nice Cindy Lauper's cover with female vocal by Kitty Kowalski. I also dig the closing song on this album - "Yeah (late Night Song)" - great sunny and surfy power pop punk. Anyway it's one more good album on Stardumb Records.

MOTOSIERRA "XXX" CD

AAAAAUUUUUUU my ears hurt from the noise that's coming from the speakers - when you hear the first guitar chords of "Violator", all you want to do is put the volume to the max and go wild. This band is fucking great - they are loaded with energy and anger - this is definitely what I like, this is the way a band should sound!!!! I got this CD few days ago and already heard it 100 000 000 000.... times - it's brilliant. I don't know which songs are my favorites - maybe all of them!! Musically Motosierra sound like early Zeke or 1st Nashville Pussy LP, but more trashy and more punk - so it's perfect combination. Songs are short, fast and catchy and the vocal is fucking great - specially when they sing in Spanish - it sounds even more angry. Ok, I think I said enough, this is not the kind of band you have to write essays about, this is pure and simple raw r'n'r in its best way and you have to hear it. So everybody keep your eyes wide open for Motosierra records - I hope it won't take too long till we have them in record stores. And I should stop now before the neighbors call the police.

PEAWEES
"DEAD END CITY" CD
Stardumb Records 2001

Peawees kick ass. They sound like pop version of Devil Dogs. It's really great and melodic punk'n'roll with great solos, vocal, catchy choruses and I can go on with compliments. Vocal also has something from Lemmy (Motorhead). "Road To Rock'n'Roll" is a real hit. "I'm Not Right" has great guitar solo. "Cos You Don't Know Me" is mix between Social Distortion and Ramones, but then on Peawees way. Peawees have pretty much their own style. You can hear their inspiration, but they play it in their own way and that's what I like. "Don't Give A Fuck" is strange mix between street punk and r'n'r with slight touch of Motorhead with great chorus. "In My Heart Tonight" is great song with nice melody. Peawees can write really great songs and they know how to arrange it and make it a holiday for you ears. There is no stop between the songs and music drives non stop. There is also great cover of "Proud Mary" followed by punkabilly "I Know Your End". Last song "Don't Look" is the fastest one - hardcore r'n'r. This is really great album and it seems that Italy is really rockin' and Peawees are definitely one of the best new bands I heard recently. I must also say that Stardumb is doing great job discovering such great bands and releasing their albums. Italian - Dutch connection is working pretty good.
