THE SACRED SAILORS "YOU MY FRIEND/LOVE SOUND" 7", Crusher Records 2005
The Sacred Sailors are one more Swedish high energy rock band. I heard lot of them, but I'm not tired yet as long as they sound this good. I like how Scandinavian bands do it. There are lot of variations between them and each band has their own style. Some of them put more hard rock and metallic flavors, others are more psychedelic or glam punk or bit more groovy, so I always enjoy them and there is a big smile on my face when I get something like this in my mailbox. Now back to Sacred Sailors. They are strongly into 70s, their sound is on the edge to be called retro. Both tracks are real killers, somewhere between MC5 and New York Dolls, actually Sacred Sailors are the missing link between high energy heavy psych and glam punk. Very raw, loaded with energy + great songs.

SONIC ANGELS "WILD CITY ROCK'N'ROLL" CD, Lola Product/Subsonic 2005
Sonic Angels are: Marc Angel lead vocal-guitar, Sylvia Angel backing vocal-bass, Pascaline and Melody Angel drums. Their style is some kind of 70s garage punk with Jimi Hendrix influence and acid elements - let's call it psychedelic punk. I like everything except the vocal. Sorry Marc, but I think Sonic Angels should look for new singer. Maybe this would sound better if recorded in studio and not live. Or maybe this music doesn't fit his vocal. It's really pity cos good singer is 90% of the band. Maybe one of the girls should sing.

| SWEATMASTER "MAGGOTS" CD SINGLE, Bad Afro Records 2005
Sweatmaster are incredible high energy garage punk from Finland with pretty strong 70s influence. "Maggots" is song from their new "Tom Tom Bullet" album, produced by Jurgen Hendlemeier (Flaming Sideburns, Baby Woodrose ...). So you know what you can expect - as the band's name says, rock'n'roll with rivers of sweat. 2nd song, "Full" is only available on this CD.

| URGENCIES "DESOLATION CHIC" CD, Bubble Empire Recordings 2004
Urgencies are new attraction from Austin, Texas and they play neo 70s glam punk power pop. They have that wasted junkie look in New York Dolls and Johnnie Thunders and his Heartbreakers style. But, Urgencies are no copy of these bands. They have loud glam punk guitars as well as some new wave influences and psych spices. Singer reminds me of Tom Verlaine from Television. This is really pleasant surprise and this CD is a real killer.

| YOUNG PARISIAN S/T CD, 2006
Young Parisian are first glam band I heard from Japan and they are really great. There are 12 songs on this CD, 11 originals and "Rock Of Ages' (Jobriath) cover. CD starts with "Glitter Satelliter" which is instant 70s glam killer in T-Rex style. If I didn't know this was a new band, I would think it was a 70s band. Young Parisian sound pretty much like T-Rex, maybe a bit too much, but I really like it. They just do it good and I enjoy this CD from begin to end. Each song can be hit. Tsuneglam Sam is Japanese reincarnation of Marc Bolan. Of course there are more influences here - from David Bowie to New York Dolls. My faves are: "Glitter Satelliter", "Moonage Sex", "Love Call Spangle", "Foxy Magic", "Flashy Girl"...
