V.A. "ALLEMAAL WINNAARS! 3" CD, SPL 2005
This is a compilation of Dutch bands from Limburg who took part of local band contest. This is typical Dutch, some non-profit organization organizes contest of local bands for some prize (for me unknown). I think this is totally idiotic, cos music is not football to have contests/championships. Organizers get nice subsidy-money from government doing practically nothing. In stead of giving bands that money to pay for practice or studio. But that's shitty Dutch system! Anyway you get 6 bands and 2 DJs here. As usually on this kind of CDs you get bored by some stupid bands who play some alternative stuff and try to sound like their idols. But on this CD you have 2 real pearls. One of them Super 88, who you should know. They do 2 live tracks, great sound quality, noisy fuzz guitar and their strange mix of 60s and 70s, garage and psych. Both songs are killers. 2nd band is I.N.F.A. (Inharmonic Noises From Above). Really nice surprise. They say they play 'grunge punk'n'roll'. Well, it is something that's similar to Nirvana, but much more punk and more 70s. To me it sounds much better than Nirvana ever sounded. I.N.F.A. are 4 kids (teenagers) who kick ass. The singer screams like he's insane. 2nd song is more psychedelic and slower with loads of noise and great leads. I hope to hear more from them and I hope the grunge part will disappear from their music and they will be more garage. The rest of this CD is not worth mentioning.

SPLIT HI-FI KILLERS/LOS DRAGOS CD EP, Nicotine Records
Hi-Fi Killers are from France. Their style is a mix of 70s hard rock and punk. Not bad, but much less then Scandinavian bands who do this much better. Anyway they look too neat for music they play.
Los Dragos are from Italy. Their influences are from 60s and 70s, but they do it on their own way. I like it - hard and rockin'. "No Woman No Chain" is a killer song!! Great guitar sound.

New portion of 77 style punk from UK! Here are our well known Sick56 and Higgins++ with their new split 7". I really can't say which side is better. Both are great punk rock, 100% dirty street sound!!! Guys, stop with splits, make a full length album, so we can drink beer and pogo all night long. Great!!!

| V.A. "SLOVENLY RECORDIONGS" CD
The Spits open this compilation. I heard from many people that Spits are great, but 2 songs that are on this CD are OK, but I don't understand all the hype about them. It's Ramones punk with new wave influences - new waveish keyboard / punk guitar combination. The Cheeps are also some kind of mutation of garage with new wave. I like their 2nd song on this CD "I'm Going Home", probably because of the melody. The Losin Streaks are trash garage with 60s influence. Their version of "Leavin' Here" is maybe the best one of this famous garage classic. "If You Think" is I guess their song and it's really good. I hope to hear more from them soon. Introducers are some kind of noisy trash surf with psychobilly influences (Cramps style) - they're OK. Lo-Lite are Dutch 2 man band. Kinda trash blues, more garage version of White Stripes - better than the famous duo ever was and ever will be. Subsonics - lo fi trash garage. ... phuuuu I'm getting a bit tired, as the most bands sound the same. Difference is very minimal. Well, The Gain are neo mod powerpop, but a bit monotone. CD ends with Troubla Makers. "You Can't Blame That On Me" is a cover of garage classic. I think my fave on this CD - good trash garage punk.

| V.A. "SUBSONIC LIVE VOL 3" CD
This is CD with stuff recorded live in Subsonic Club, Montpellier France during 2002. Sound quality is really good and all bands are 1000% punk. Music vary from 77 style punk, pop punk to trash punk. These are the ones I like the most: American Heartbreak, Los Bastardos, Starshit, Apers, Les Jakes, Weak. I guess if you like guitar noise, sweaty and dirty punk, you should go visit Subsonic. At least I would if it wasn't so far from their club.
