AUTORAMAS "RRRRRRROCK!" CD, Monstro Discos
The band from Brazil is called Autoramas, but on the sleeve there are airplanes - hahaha. Really great band! Strange mix of garage, punk, power pop and new wave on some strange way. They sing in Portuguese. Strange solo guitar that gives them specific sound, but also vocal and songs - all sounds strange. Maybe not really strange that strange, but difficult to compare them with another band. You can describe their sound in one word - original! 14 songs, my faves: "Paciencia", "A Historia Da Vida De Cada Um", "Motocross" (instrumental with surf influences, loaded with energy and hot rod madness), "Catchy Chorus" (the only song here in English), "Tudo Errado"...
AUTORAMAS "NADA PODE PARAR OS" CD, Monstro Discos
On Autoramas "Rrrrrrrock" CD, different influences were a bit more obvious - garage, wave, surf ... "Nada Pode Parar Os" is Autoramas original madness. Of course it's garage punk with strange and weird songs and definitely something you don't hear every day. I'm glad Autoramas sing in Portugese - it makes them sound even more original and genius. Killer songs, pretty different, but still sounds like one with authentic Autoramas sound. My faves are: "Voce Sabe" hits you straight into head as 1st song on this album and one of the best songs I heard lately; "Megalomania" with strange synth sounds that you can also hear on other songs and they fit great with loud guitars and vocals; "Musica De Amor" is really genius; "Rei da Implicancia" ... there is no point in naming songs, they are all my favorites and they are all great. If you don't want to buy this great CD and support this great band - fuck off.

BIG SURF "HANG ELEVEN" CD, 2005
"Hang Eleven" is 2nd CD by Big Surf. Their debut CD "Action Heroes" was great surprise, but to be honest "Hang Eleven" is even great or maybe even better. What I love about this band is that they're totally open minded for all influences. So on this CD, except for reverb surf guitars, you can also hear latin, exotica, orient, gypsy, ska and even techno!!! Big Surf do it on their own weird way and it all sounds like one band. Big Surf is great fun and I hope they'll manage to come to Europe.

THE BONES "PARTNERS IN CRIME" CD, People Like You Records 2006
Hard rock in AC/DC style with punk and rockabilly, glam rock like Joan Jet and country. The Bones are from Sweden. 6 songs - 5 covers. 1st song is cover of Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" - nice try to do it more in hard rock style, but I can't say it's very successful. But the other songs are real killers. Anyway, I'm really interested to hear more from this band - more of their own songs. Covers are done really good. My faves are: "Yesterdays Hero" (Bay City Rollers) and "It's My Life" (Wendy O Williams, written by guys from Kiss). Each song has special guest (Mike McColgan - Dropkick Murphys, Street Dogs; Nicke Borg - Back Yard Babies; Mia Coldheart - Crucified Barbara etc.).

CHAZ MATTHEWS "AMAZING GRACELESS" CD, Full Breach Kicks 2005
Promo sheet says that Chaz Mathews is a frontman of Dimestore Haloes, band I never had a chance to hear. Also it says that his biggest influence are: Chuck Berry, New York Dolls and Ramones. Anyway, this CD is great collection of glam punk power pop tunes. The influences above are nicely melted with personal touch. Great songs with loud punky guitar, catchy and great vocal with mid to late 70s flavor - big plus, at least from me.
