COFFIN DAGGERS "OUT OF LIMITS / THE HEINOUS MR. HYDE" 7", Urko Records 2006
A side belongs to "Out Of Limits", 60s surf classic in new jacket. Coffin Daggers use weird organ and they slowed this tune a bit. So it sound pretty psychedelic. B side is awesome too, again a duel between surf guitar and psych organ. Guitar is a bit fuzzed, so it's kinda garage surf psych. This 7" is super cool.

CULPABLES "EN LOS NERVIOS" CD, Rastrillo Records
Culpables are known to No Brains Readers from split CD with Motosierra. Here is their full length "El Los Nervios" all in Spanish and I love it - I'm really tired of English. Also bands who don't speak English sound better when they sing in their own language. 13 short, fast and furious songs with totally distorted guitar and screaming vocal. Next to Motosierra, one more great band from Uruguay in the same style. Get this CD, it's fantastic. Motorhead hardcore garage punk from South America rules!!!

DEAD MAN S/T CD, Crusher Records 2005
If you didn't know that Dead Man were new band, you would never say this was recorded 2005 - it sounds like 1969. Sound is totally reconstructed in old fashioned style and songs are also in the same wane. Personally, I'm not somebody who prefers this pure retro sound, but Dead Man definitely have their charm. This album is really over the top psych with progressive influences. Very trippy, acid wah wah psych guitar leads... Songs vary in rhythm, dreamy and floating passages vs hard heavy parts ... album is done really great. My faves are: "Season Of The Dead", "Highway" and "Deep Forest Green" (over 14 minutes).

THE FLAKES "BACK TO SCHOOL" CD, Dollar Record Records 2005
I think this is 1st Flakes full length, and it's really great! Garage punk with 60s and 77 punk influences with extra soul groove (like in "C'mon and Swim" manic garage boogaloo, cover of famous killer). Of course lot of great punk'n'roll tunes + few songs with 1 foot in 70s (glam punk with acid touch MC5 style). Great CD!!!! Garage punk masterpiece!!!

FLAMING SIDEBURNS "BACK TO THE GRAVE" CD, Bad Afro Records 2006
"Back To The Grave" is kinda announcement for Flaming Sideburns newest album that should appear in October 2006, also on Bad Afro. 2 previously unreleased tracks and 60s and 70s covers, probably stuff that Flaming Sideburns like. Some covers were already released as B-side of singles. So, 1st 2 tracks were recorded during the "Sky Pilots" session. "Runnin' On Fumes" is typical Flaming Sideburns high energy rock and "Black Moon" is pretty strange but great song - psychedelic and as far as I can understand with Spanish lyrics. On this CD Flaming Sideburns sound pretty different from their usual sound. Music is more 70s and more raw and more primitive. Maybe because of the production, but maybe because it's cover album. I like to listen to this CD, I can't say it's better or worse from other Flaming Sideburns stuff - it's just great.
