RECKLESS BASTARDS CDr
no label 2001
Here is one more CDr - this time from band from Seattle. Reckless Bastards are punk band in 70s style influenced by garage
punk. They are really really good, but they need just a little bit to be great. Well actually I don't like only 1 song on this
CDr - "Stimulate Our Minds", but the rest is definitely great. Maybe it's also question of taste, 'cos probably they are
influenced by some early american punk bands which I normally don't dig that much. Anyway I really enjoy this CDr and
my favorites are: "Bust Out" (great rockin' punk), "Let It Out" (great sing-a-long chorus and great solo guitar) and "Don't
Need Your Love" (rockin' punk which reminds me a bit of Johnny Thunders And Heartbreakers - only faster; great chorus).
There are also 2 covers: "She's The Girl" by Screamers and "Strong Come On" by The Oblivians. Reckless Bastards did it
great. Anyway I hope some labels read this fucking reviews - so release this great band - what are you waiting for?!!! This
CDr will make great album.

SATELLITERS
"SEXPLOSIVE" LP
Dionysus Records 2001
Hurrey, here is the new Satelliters album and what an album!! "When I Arrive" is the first tune and it's nice garage psych
tune with great guitar and of course, great Steve's vocal. "Circle Sky" is a bit more r'n'b, while "Tyrn Out Wrong" is real
garage punk killer with great organ. "Minutes, Hours And Days" is mid tempo psychotic freakbeat in style of early Pretty
Things or 13th Floor Elevators, with guitar that reminds a bit of early Byrds psych stuff. "Your Lies" is raw garage punk
followed by punk psych instrumental - "The Beat". "No Matter Why" is one of my favorites and if you read my reviews,
you can guess - it's fuzz punk killer with organ! Satelliters never had such great production like on this record. It's not very
important for me, but I also like when the record sounds good and when you can enjoy each tone. "Now You Want Me
Girl" closes A side - it's a groovy punky tune. Honestly there is no big difference between A and B side. All songs are great.
The concept is similar - 1 easy tune, 1 up tempo and then 1 mid tempo. The quality of songs is very high and each song
sounds really great. I can say that B side is maybe even better. I specially like "Shadows Of You", "Better Cry Instead"
and "Sorrows Minus One", also "Super Stuff" is great groovy 60s punk instro. So don't waste your time trying to discover
some unknown 60s band - just get Satelliters, close your eyes, travel through time and enjoy it.

SHITFUCKERS DICK AND THE BURNING ASSHOLES
"THE SCENT OF GLANS" CD
Sonic Balroom Records 2001
Shitfuckers Dick And The Burning Assholes are superspeed garage trash punk combo from Cologne, Germany. If you like
Zeke or Dwarves and similar stuff - this is something for you. There are 15 mostly short songs full of energy and good
guitar riffs. It's really difficult to pick out favorites, cos this album sounds pretty compact. After first 7 very fast songs,
there is finally one song - "My Horse Left Me Last Night", where you can rest a bit. Don't think that this song is a ballad, it's just a little
bit slower than the furious start. If I have to choose my favorite song, it would probably be "Kiss My Ass" which reminds
me a little bit of Spider Babies. Great solo guitar on this one. Strangest thing with Shitfuckers Dick And The Burning
Assholes is that the longer you listen to their cd the more interesting it becomes. Maybe because the second part of record
is a little bit slower (but still fast) and the melody comes to front. Album closes "Love/Feel The Pain" - 2 songs melted into
one which is over 7 minutes long. Well, this is really exhausting, till the last drop of your sweat. Huh, Shitfuckers Dick And
The Burning Assholes are really strange experience, but I recommend them.

THE SKUNKS
"EARTHQUAKE SHAKE" CD
no label
The Skunks is supposed to be punk band from 1979. They did pretty decent 7" - "Can't Get Loose"/"Earthquake Shake"
which was power popish punk, nothing special but not bad. "Earthquake Shake" is probably their best song and it reminds
me a lot of early Damned stuff. You get this 7" on CD as bonus tracks. Unfortunately the 2 gigs included on this CD -
Austin and New York City - are far from quality of 7". Musically it's more power pop, songs are much longer (round 4
minutes) and also quality of recording is not so great (but also not so bad). Unfortunately I couldn't get feeling that Skunks
swinged. Maybe for Killed By Death record collectors this CD can have more value. It has definitely a value as a document
of time, but further is not very interesting.

V.A. "ROCK'N'ROLL HELL YEAH" CD
Wolverine Records
"Rock'n'Roll Hell Yeah" is compilation of new punk generation, so there are lot of skate punk, ska punk, pop punk and
other shitty punk bands on it. They have good production, maybe they have catchy songs, but it leaves me so cold and I
really can't understand what can people find in this sterile kind of punk rock. Well, punk is supposed to be something completely
opposite to this, so sorry guys - this is real crap and don't waste your time and money to send this kind of stuff to us. But
don't think I didn't listen to this CD till the end, cos between all these shitty bands there are few pearls as Hammercocks -
fast garage in style of Zeke or Nashville Pussy, Garlic Boys - decent street punk, Cheeks are great power
pop, also Yeti Girls (they are no girls), Bullocks and Mustang 666 are ok, maybe there are 1 or 2 bands which are not so
irritating, but the other +/-20 bands don't deserve to be named.
