FREEBOOTING PROFITEERS "LAME IN THE BRAIN" CD, 2005 |
Freebooting Profiteers is Uptight fraction. Brit pop with strong power pop and mod influences from late 70s. It's a bit different from Uptight, it's more complex and less melodic. Not really a way I would choose to go.

| FURY 161 "LOS REYES DE LA CARRETERA" CD, Tear It Up Records 2005
Fury 161 are Dutch answer to Swedish action garage punk bands. As they say in their promo sheet, their influence are Nomads and similar bands from 60s - I would add 70s and early 80s. Great band, not very often for Holland. Album is loaded with heavy garage punk riffs and great leads, raw and primitive vocal, bit of organ (Don - Skidmarks). They have their own style they created by mixing their favorite stuff. This CD rocks!

| THEE HEADCOATS SECT "DEERSTALKING MEN" CD, Damaged Goods 2006
Damaged Goods did great thing by re-releasing this great album, that was oficially released in 1996. Collaboration between Headcoats and Downliners Sect - Don Craine (guitar, vocals) and Keith Grant (bass vocals) were members of famous UK 60s garage freakbeat ravers. Deerstalking Men" is 90s garage classic with deep roots in 60s. Few covers - "Strychnine" and "The Witch" (Sonics), "Why Don't You Smile Now" (Downliners Sect) and bunch of Billy Childish songs. Don and Keith are great - despite their age. Raw and primitive sound, just the way garage should be. And if you don't have this album yet, this is your chance to get it.

| SPLIT - THE WHOCARES / BAD PREACHERS 7"EP, 2006
Split with 2 Belgian bands. Bad Preachers are hard rockin' punk with strong Motorhead influence - raw, dirty and sweaty. When I put this 7" on a record player, it was on 45rpm and this 7" is on 33rpm. "Wild Ride" would sound better if you speed it up. Whocares are more or less in the same style, only more punk. Good EP, released by bands themselves (I guess).
