ALUMINIUM KNOT EYE "TRUNK LUNKER" LP, Dead Beat Records
Aluminium Knot Eye is some kind of new wave - as they say strange mix of Chrome, Residents and garage punk, punk and Cramps. One more bunch of noisy and not easy to listen songs - stuff that's very 'in' in US. Sorry, but I'm getting a bit tired of this kind of stuff. Maybe it's nice on 45 - 3-4 songs, but the whole album is a bit too much. It's all too trashy and screamy, chords are totally atonal. I know that's the point, but I think you do need a bit more talent to do it good. Maybe they should listen a bit better to Chrome, Wire or similar bands records. They did something similar, but on somehow more interesting way.

ANTENA TRES "ONDA DI CRIMINE" CD, Jason R 2006
We already know Antena Tres from France from "Get The Guitar Off Your Ass 2" comp. as well as Arno De Cea. Antena Tres are weird instrumental 60s groovy garage exotica with some surf influences. This time accent is more on swinging 60s/early 70s sound. Load of great songs, reverbed and fuzzed guitars and weird synth sounds and effects - really spacey and psychedelic. I guess Antena Tres were inspired by film noir and early 70s euro trash movies - specially Italian stuff. Old sound is put in new jacket and modern production - sound that is more specific for 21st century.

AQUAMARINES "SCHOOL OF REVERB LIVE" 2004 DEMO CD
This CD is acttually compilation of Aquamarines sessions on KZSU Radio. About 20 songs, mostly covers of surf standards - some less known than others. There is one band original "My Wonderful Shadow" - really great. It's pitty Aquamarines don't dare to do more of their own songs. I think this song is even better than some covers they did. But I think those who like speed and technique won't be dissapointed. Anyway, CD is really pleasant - nice melodies, not just speed and technique. Guitar is a bit Shadows like, but with more soul than Hank Marvin did. Great surf band I hope to hear more from!! BTW this CD sounds good enough for me to be real release.

ARSENIC ON THE ROCKS S/T CD
Arsenic On The Rocks are influenced by gothic, punk, industrial with bit of metal. You can hear all these influences very strongly in their music, but for me this doesn't function very good - it's too heavy and depressing, but on kinda boring way. Too many changes, stop and go moments, melodies are minimal, vocal too screamy and guitars too noisy with monotone riffs. Maybe this is the sound and sphere Arsenic On The Rocks wanted, but it's not really my taste.

THE BAMBOO KIDS "FEEL LIKE HELL" CD, Empty Records 2006
One more awsome collection of 14 punky pop songs in style of US power pop from end 70s/begin 80s. Bamboo Kids do it with good quality of sound and songs with here and there glam punk touch. These are btw my fave songs, probably because I prefere glam punk upon power pop. My faves are "Low Life", "Child Prodigy" (for me best track here) and "Rock'n'Roll Soldier" (Almost 70s glam rock style).
