MISS 45 S/T CD-EP, No Talent Records 2006
One more great band from Sweden, country with only 8 million people. Comparing to Holland - nothing really happens here. Anyway, it's good there is at least one place in Europe where people listen and play good stuff. Miss 45 play snotty glam punk with 70s influences - New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders... This reminds me of many places in Sweden that still look like it's 70s - specially when you're outside of bigger cities - smaller restaurants and buildings that seem not to be changed from 70s till today. Miss 45 are not so retro, they gave their own touch to this music. I really love this band. The only bad thing about this CD is that it has only 4 songs. No Talent Records should change their name - these guys have too much talent.

MONDO TOPLESS "TAKE IT SLOW" CD, Get Hip 2006
Mondo Topless always have big plus from me. They play neo 60s garage, but they do it on their own weird way - with "we play neo 60s, but we don't have to sound like bands 40 years ago" attitude. Songs are also really great and different, even if you hear chords and tamplates you already heard so many times before. "Take It Slow" is just one more great album from this band.

THE MOVING SOUNDS "GROUND SHAKER" CD, Copase Disques 2006
One of my fave bands from Sweden, Moving Sounds are back with their 2nd album "Ground Shaker". "Ground Shaker" doesn't follow where "Don't Sleep On This" stopped. This time it's more neo 80s garage with more of soul and r'n'b influences which reminds me of old The Creeps stuff. Soul and groovy element is stronger than before. Great Hammond organ leads are still there, as well as fat fuzz guitar. Promo sheet says that this album is recorded in Toe Rag Studios, and I must say this is the only minus here. I expected much more from production. Sound is really good and crystal clear, but maybe it's too clear. OK, some folks like that. Anyway, "Ground Shaker" is definitelly one of the best albums of this year. 11 songs, all killers. You must get this CD!!! Unfortunatlly only on CD. Why? I hope we'll get it on vinyl too.

MR BONZ ONE MAN BAND "THE EXCITING SOUND OF" DEMO CD, 2005
I'm always sceptical about 1 man and even 2 men bands, cos I always have a feeling that they can't have the sound that would be great. But I guess if you have talent and you know what you want and if you're a genious as Mr Bonz, then you don't need the rest of the band. The real name of Mr Bonz is Michel Canhoto and he's from Rennes, France. 3 songs by Mr Bonz himself and 1 by Jon Von The 4 Slicks. Trash 50s rockabilly with simplicity of Cramps, surf spices and space sounds (specially in instrumental "Dynamite"). What can I say? This guy sounds fantastic, and better than hunderds 4-5 piece bands!!! The songs are so great, the music is great, everything is great here. I really love this stuff and I hope to hear more from Mr Bonez soon soon soon.

OF THE OPERA "STUDY NATURAL LAW" CD, Lucid Records 2006
Of The Opera is actually Robert Bock, his computer, his guitar and some other live instruments. Promo sheet says that this is electronic pop, but honestly this sound like progressive indie pop. Complex arangements and melodies that should be nice and poppy, but it's not so melodic and it doesn't hang between your ears (the way pop melodies should be). Samples and paterns don't really fit into this music. Robert has nice vocal, but this can be done better. Maybe make it bit more simple, but that's also a metter of taste.
