CATACOMBO
"DOWN IN HONOLULU/ARE YOU BEING SURFED?" 7"
Caltiki Release 1999

Catacombo is Headcoats influenced trash surf band, or maybe I should say surf influenced garage punk band in Headcoats way. Vocal is pretty B. Childish. Surf guitar reminds me of old Cramps records. "Are You Being Surfed" is instro with Link Wray's spirit.

THE COYOTE MEN
"MULLET MAN" 7"EP
Dull City Records

Coyote Men don't give a shit about any modern music. They go straight ahead into 21st century with 100% trash garage punk. This 7" is one more great record. It's fast & dirty with great sound & of course, great songs. "Mullet Man" is typical a side - you just can't get enough of it. But there is a nice instro "Groin Shot" & a real killer cover of Animals standard "I'm Cryin' " on B side. Merinuk did nice garage punk sleeve again, so what do you want more - send some $$$ to Dull City Records & get this EP.

THE DWARVES
"COME CLEAN" LP
Epitaph 2000

I really don't understand what are The Dwarves doing on Epitaph Records. Dwarves records are the only Epitaph records in my collection. But ok, let's see what we have on "Come Clean". It's classic Dwarves album with all 12 great songs. They didn't change much, but there is slight influence of techno/house sounds. I really like it and I hope they will use techno/house bleeps and sounds even more on next record. "River City", "Over You" & "Come Where The Flavor Is" sound like 21st century punk. Also here and there you can hear some nice surf part ("Johnny On The Spot"). Anyway "Come Clean" is one of my favorite Dwarves records. It's really great when your favorite band has deal with big shitty label & they still make great records.

FIFI & THE MACH III
"ROLLIN' LOVE" 7"EP
Mad Driver Records

This is one more great Fifi & The Mach III record. "Rollin love" is standard Fifi & The Mach III song - crazy Ramones style punk rock. "Money Honey" is a bit slower but great punk & roll with some glam rock influences. On b side you have punk rockin' "Pirate Love". I like this small style changing. It's really great to hear them playing something else than simple 3 chord Ramones punk. This record must be part of every good garage/trash/punk collection.

FIFI AND THE MACH III
"HULLABALOO!" CD
Nippon Crown 1999

Fifi And The Mach III "Hullabaloo!" cd is mix of new & old songs. Some of them we already know from their 7"s, but here we have new versions. Sound & production are done very well, maybe too clean for my taste - I like when it sounds a bit trashy. Fifi And The Mach III did really good cd. Songs are great. They sound like good old Ramones. I really can't say which are my favorites from this cd. The whole cd is great.
