THE SCRAGS S/T DEMO CDep
Scrags are not just one more great band from Sweden, they are SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER ... COOL and this ep kicks ass. Punk rock with 60s and 70s garage influences, all melted on the right way with great songs, great vocal and production. Influences of New York Dolls and MC5 are obvious, but yet this sounds only like The Scrags. The Scrags play good and look good. I don't know what to say. This is a fucking masterpiece. I hope hope hope to hear more from them and I want to see these guys live here in Holland!!!!!! Each song here is a killer.

SHOCK DEFEAT "HOW DID WE MAKE IT SO ANGRY" CD-EP, Snakes And Ladders Records 2006
Promo card, you get with this CD-EP says "Insane Pneumatic Psychobilly Disco". Really cool and interesting description, but unfortunately after 1st song, you get dissapointed - no psychobilly, no disco, well maybe insane. It's too new waveish, indie and alternative with very irritating high vocal (difficult to describe). I can't say this band is not original, but this is not my taste. It's also too pretentious. Vocal reminds me of David Byrne from Talking Heads, but even worse.

SILVER "WORLD AGAINST WORLD" CD, 2006 Bad Afro
This is 2nd CD of Norwegan Silver. I didn't have chance to hear "White Diary". Info sheet says that it was more glam punk. "World Against World" is more metalic and more punk, not glam at all. They remind me of Frankenstain Drag Quees and Wednesday 13 and so called shock rock. Only where Wednesday 13 goes metal, Silver goes punk. It's refreshing to hear something different on Bad Afro next to 60s and 70s inspired bands. Silver has the sound and the looks and I think if they could get played on TV, they would get huge.

SNAKE FLOWER "TURN BACK TIME EP" 7"EP, Shake Your Ass Records 2006
Very amateur boring one man band - kinda indie pop.
SONIC ANGELS "TIMES ARE CHANGING" CD, Rock Palace Records 2006
Sonic Angels changed quite a bit in their sound from the last CD they sent for review. A weaker point on previous CD for me was vocal. Vocal on this CD is put through some effect (I think) so it has this strange metallic sound, what sounds great. I don't know who writes the songs, but the style is slightly different - more garage and less apocalyptic and Stooges. I think this style fits Marc's vocal better. Songs are not really classical garage punk. Lot of 70s influences and also late 70s punk with junky trash sphere that I really like. I'm glad that primitive and raw sound is still here. Great guitars with loud and great production. "Times Are Changing" is great album, quite unusual comparing to most stuff I get for reviews. Maybe Sonic Angles are inspired by all this 70s stuff, but still they have their own style. Get this killer CD ASAP!
