THE BURNOUTS
"GO GO RACING" CD
Bad Afro Records 2000

Burnouts are coming from Denmark. They play very fast rockin' highway punk. They can be compared with early Hellacopters, Nashville Pussy & similar bands. Still they build their own sound using more garage punk & 50s trash rock and not so much 70s hard rock. They drive 200 km/h with great & dirty production. My favorites are "Rocking Boots", "Truckers Motherfuckers" & "Burnout". Anyway, if you think that mix of MC5 & Reverend Horton Heat is something for you, don't wait - get this CD.

THE CHRONICS
"SOULSHAKER" CD
Bad Afro Records 2000

"Soulshaker" is debut album of this new garage band from Sweden. Till now "Soulshaker" got pretty good critics & at the moment (March 2001) it's one of the best CDs on dutch radio (VPRO). "Put 'em Down" opens this CD. It's hard rockin' garage punk in a way of MC5/Stooges with honky tonk piano in background. But next song "You Look Like Something" is actually typical Swedish mid 80s garage punk. Chronics' inspiration are Nomads, Creeps, but also Sonics & similar groovy garage punk bands. Anyway, quality of songs is very high, all songs are pretty catchy & it's really difficult to choose favorites. The whole CD is nice mix of 60s/early 70s garage punk. Chronics smelted it pretty good. If you like Strollers - you may like this too, but I recomend this CD to everybody 'cos it's great garage punk with good production & great songs.

THE DONNAS
"TURN 21" LP
Lookout Records 2001

Here is the 4th Donnas album. I was a little bit skeptical after "Get Skintight" which I didn't really like. But "Turn 21" is really great record - almost as good as their 1st album. Well, it's not the same style. This time Donnas sound more like Runnaways or Joan Jett. Their music became more glam punk & I really like it.

THE JERRY SPIDER GANG
"KINKY PUSSY" 7"EP
Aaargh! Records

The Jerry Spider Gang are great surprise. When I saw the sleeve it looked very promising, but when the needle touched the vinyl I couldn't believe my ears. I didn't hear such great guitar punk rock riff in long long time. "Kinky Pussy" is really great & you really have to hear it few times before you go to B side. The Jerry Spider Gang play 77 punk with overdoses of rock'n'roll & strong touch of garage trash with supersonic speed. "We Love Rock'n'Roll" just kills you as well as Rocky Erickson's cover "Bermuda". Gimme more Jerry Spider Gang - I'm addicted to this kind of punk.

MILTON FISHER
"FORWARD LOOP" CD EP
No Label 1999

Milton Fisher is not really my cup of tea. They actually play music I don't listen, but they sent this CD for review - so here it is. Milton Fisher is indie punky rock with some surf & ska (because of trumpet & trombone) influences. On this 6 song EP you get 5 originals + Sonic Youth cover "Schizophrenia". Milton Fisher are not bad at all, but please don't send indie pop rock or ska punk anymore 'cos I won't review it in the future.
