ROCK AND ROLL MACHINE
"ROCK'N'ROLL DISEASE" 7"EP
Action Records
Stooges from New Zealand - and they are really good. These 2 guys and girl are raw (really raw), have great songs and their guitar riffs will tear your speakers. Songs are a bit too Stooges like (specially "Rock'n'Roll Disease"), but I don't care 'cos they do it good. My favorite is "Overdrive". Just imagine you're driving somewhere on the road with a trunk fool of booze - well, this is the music you need!! I'm looking forward to more stuff from this band.

SONIC ASSASIN
"State Is Enemy, Forever" CD
Freakshows Records 2001
It seems that Italy is becoming one of the biggest punk rock producing countries, or maybe it's just
pure coincidence that I got/bough lot of Italian bands recently. Unfortunately not all bands are even
great. Sonic Assasin is one of those who can't get great critics from my side. They are not so bad, but
it's just decent band. They wrote they are influenced by Radio Birdman, Sonic's Randevouz Band,
Stooges, Dead Boys and MC5, but only covers like "Murder City Nights", "Love Kills", "Sonic
Reducer",... sound good. "Domination" is the only Sonic Assasin song I really dig, but the rest is
nothing special. Sorry guys but you should try to make better songs. Maybe listen more to your
favorite bands.

SPIDER BABIES
"TEN INCHES OF...TERROR" 10"
Ken Rock 2000
This is Spider Babies' new 10" and all I can say is - it's fucking great!!!!!!!!!! After so many releases,
Spider Babies are better than ever. I don't know how they do it and I don't care as long as they go on
like this. First side is so great that you have to listen to it at least 10 times before you turn to the
other side. I really can't say which songs on this side are my favorites. Spider Babies are driving wild,
fast and dirty from "Kick Down The Door", through "Spider baby (Gonna Rape You)" - you better
watch out, "Take Me Back" (fastest one on this side - screaming guitar and straight to the point - this
is what I like), "I need Sex" (well, what else do Spider Babies need - ha ha ha) to "I like 'em Real
Young" (maybe this is my favorite from this record - this song is just brilliant - it's catchy, it's fast,
it's rockin' and I just love the backing screams). When you finally get to hear the B side - you have to
listen to it more than once and you just don't get to hear any other records - ha ha ha. B side is a bit
slower than A side, but it's great. "Keepin' You For Good" is my favorite on this side. It's kinda
romantic - in Spider Babies way of course - hi hi hi - with great catchy chorus. They are really pissed
off in "You're Gonna Pay" and "Fuck With My Head (And You Die)" - don't try to mess with these
guys. "No Fat Chicks" is one more great fast drivin' Spider babies' hit. 10" ends with slow, but really
nice "Your New Boyfriend". In some way it's different from other Spider Babies songs, but I love it.
What else do you want to know - don't just read this - go and get this 10"!!!!!! Oh, and don't forget
about 7" that is coming out soon on Get Hip.

ZEN GUERRILA
"Shadows On The Sun" CD
Sub Pop 2001
Here is the new Zen Guerrilla CD. They exist quite long, but it's the first time I hear them. And they
are OK, but nothing special. Vocal is the most irritant part. Maybe somebody would say this guy is a
great singer, but I just don't like it. I must admit that there are some songs like "Staring Into Midnite"
where it sounds pretty good - great high energy funkoid hard rock with soul vocal. Unfortunately the
rest of Cd sounds more grunge than "Stones/Kinks/Led Zeppelin mixed with Ohio
Players/Stylistics/Temptations" as their press material says (well, maybe Led Zeppelin, but I hate
them anyway). I'm afraid this is nothing interesting for No Brains Zine. By the way Sub Pop said I
shouldn't use this CD cover, but I have to download 2MB of artwork from Evil Bitch website - are
they serious about this!!????!!!!!!

THE FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS FROM PLANET 13/THE NERDS SPLIT 7"
Scarey Records 2001
WOOOOOW, two great bands on one record - this just has to be good. You don't have to hear it - it's
enough to see the sleeve. Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 side is just like stuff from "Night
Of The Living Drag Queens" LP and I love it!!! "Dawn Of The Dead" is real zombie hit. I can't wait
for the day when the dead will walk the Earth and music like this will be all over the radio and tv.
"Anti-You" is manic and fast and prepares you for what's coming next on B side - Antichrists
themselves - The Nerds - morbid, raw, wild and fast punk rock loosers rising Satan. Just look at the
sleeve - how far can these guys go - further than hell??!!!!??? If you want some real stuff - get this
7"!!!!!! "If this one does not scare you, you are already dead!"
