THE MUTANTS "STAMPEDE CARAVAN #2 / CROONER'S BREAKFAST" 7", Black Juju 2004 |
"Stampede Caravan #2" is part 2 of one of the great songs from "Voodoo Blues" album. The Mutants are not really surf anymore. They are really cool groovy instro. Both songs have super hot Latin funky rhythm with lot of congas and bongos. Great sax vs acid fuzz guitar + groovy bass. Simply great and mind blowing 45 to make your party a big success or just make your day. The Mutants rule!!!!

| PANIC BUTTONS "ALABAMALAMA" LP, Ken Rock 2004 |
Panic Buttons are nice old fashioned 77 style punk (but not too retro) with slight trash influence, more or less stuff we used to hear on early Rip Off Records. Refreshing in a bunch nu wave and power pop bands we have today. One more good move from one of my favorite labels - Ken Rock. 12 short, fast and straight to the point punk rock tracks - LP on 45 rpm. Lot of cool tunes: "Static Electricity Television Set", "She Only Love Me When Shes Punching Me In The Face", "Drink N Drive Rock N Roll", "Sexbot", "Teenage Fink" ...

THE REBEL "EXCITING NEW VENUE FOR SOCCER AND EXECUTION OF WOMEN" 7"EP, SDZ Records 2004 |
Ben R Wallers (ex Country Teasers) is The Rebel. It's experimental 7" in vain of Velvet Underground, Residents and some other minimal new wave mixed with garage. Sound is very weird and original. Weird and surrealistic sense for humor in kinda Monty Python style. Well the title is crazy enough to let you know you can't expect anything 'normal' from this record.

| SINGING DOGS "SUCK THE DOG" 7"EP, P.Trash 2004
Don't know if this EP is still available, cos according to my copy, there are only 154 pressed. Anyway, you have to be fast - faster then Singing Dogs - to get a copy. Everything I can say is WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!! These guys were trio, duo, now they are again trio and they kick ass no matter the number of members. 4 super fast trashy but melodic punk'n'roll killers. All 4 are my faves. Here are the titles: "Uniplux", "Suck The Dog", "Shake Your Ass", Baby", "Kill Me, PLease". Trash punk'n'roll at its best.

THE SIRENS "THE SIRENS" CD, Get Hip Recordings 2004 |
I'm a big fan of 70s glam rock. The Sirens 1st album is super cool. 4 girls play 70s glam rock killers with max volume on their amps. Fantastic production - I can hear all elements of 70s glam rock, but still it sounds very modern!!! The only objection to this album is - The Sirens should try to write their own songs. But on the other hand, we get all 12 killers. Some more and some less known stuff: Garry Glitter, Suzy Quatro, Slade, ... but also some 60s stuff in glam rock style. The Sirens are really hot. Hope they'll come to play in Europe.
