THE SPACE COWBOYS
"STRAIGHT TO HELL/ANOTHER ROUND" 7"
Pitshark 2000
It's really pity I don't live in Scandinavia - it seems they have sooooo many great bands. The Space Cowboys are one more. They are also strongly
influenced by 70s high energy r'n'r, but also punk. Their guitars are raw, loud and trashy, their songs fast and groovy. This is r'n'r I like, specially
"Another Round" - it's so great.

THE YES-MEN
"THE GREAT CHARADE/BEATING AROUND THE BUSH" 7"EP
Pitshark 2002
The Yes-Men are from Australia and you can hear that in their music too. It's high energy r'n'r, pretty dirty and good for small pubs filled with
smoke and smell of alcohol and sweat. Vocal is great and songs are also good and catchy with great production. So check out the new arrivals in
your local record shop - The Yes-Men should be there soon.

THE ZOMBIE IV
"ZOMBIE" 7"EP
Boom Boom Records
Probably as many of you who are reading this zine, I'm also big Mummies fan. Unfortunately record shop owners know that we use such kind of
music like drugs and we'll buy any record with similar looks and sound - so they robed me for this EP. I'm glad I got Zombie IV, but I'm afraid the
band didn't get even 10% of money I paid for their great record. Well I don't have much to say about their music - it's 100% Mummies copy, and
it's great, and it's the drug we need. I guess it's better to order directly from Boom Boom - it's US$ 3 only + postage. Or just order everything from
their catalogue for 20 US$ ppd (3 x 7"s + 2 x T-shirts). Well I did enough advertising for them so I hope I'll get something for review.

THE SBIRROS/ANNA AND THE PSYCHOMEN SPLIT 7"
2001
This is split 7" with 2 female fronted trash punk bands strongly inspired by trash horror movies. A side belongs to The Sbirros. Both songs are
pretty catchy with titles: "The Toxic Avenger" and "I Was A Teenage Mutant Rocker". Sheena SS sings good and production is also done very
well. Anna And The Psychomen on the B side sound better than on their CD, but still I think that Anna's vocal is not the right solution for trash
punk band. Songs are catchy in Ramones, Misfits style. "I've Just KIlled My Girl With My 2nd Hand Guitar" sounds more like demo recordings,
and to me it sounds better that their studio stuff, well production is not so great, but it has more power.

V.A. "THE EUROPEAN POPPUNK VIRUS" CD
Stardumb Records 2001
This solid compilation on Stardumb Records has a bit confusing name. I mean the term poppunk is not really the best description for 28 bands
inspired by Ramones. At least when I hear poppunk I always think about some stupid shitty bands you get daily on MTV. Well here you don't
have them, but nice comp of European Ramones punk bands. Well there is not enough space to name them all, so I'll make the choice of my
favorites. First killer is Peawees with great and catchy "In My Heart Tonight". Retarded also has nice tune "New Days" with melodic solo guitar
and pumping rhythm guitar. I already reviewed Manges CD and here they are also one of my favorites. The Lulabelles from Holland are really
nice surprise. 4 girls playing very fast and melodic Ramonesy punk "Get Out Of My Way" - it's definitely a killer with great chorus. I hope to
hear more from these girls and get a chance to see them live. Dirtshakes are maybe not so great, but their style should get more attention - they
play boogie punk. The Favorats bring the sunshine in your room. Their "Surfin' Surfin'" sounds like the Barracudas meets Ramones. Battledykes
are nice teenage punk band - 3 girls + 2 guys. Shits are super fast and have something Misfits in their sound. They are melodic, but raw and "I
Wanna Go To Hollywood" is only 55 sec. long. The Pink Panthers are one more all girl punk band with strong power pop influence. "Day By
Day" is nice and catchy tune. The Reekys are probably the band with the strongest Ramonoid sound and they are pretty good, maybe vocal could
be a bit better - less neat. The biggest surprise were Travoltas with "Nail You". They changed their style a bit and I have to be honest I like this
song a lot and it's definitely the best track on this CD (I hated Travoltas before - he he he). Anyway "Nail You" sounds like Jesus And Mary
Chain meets House Of Love meets psychotic punk rock produced very modern and really great. Anyway I have to pay more attention to their
new stuff and I'm very curious now. At the end this is one more great Stardumb release and if all these bands I mentioned get a chance to make the
whole album in the future, we'll get lot of great music to enjoy.
