THE APERS
THE APERS CD
Stardumb Records 2001
The Apers are pretty famous Dutch pop punk band in Ramones style. Similar bands like Queers, Screeching Weasel ... are not really my
taste, but it's ok that kids like them. I only heard Apers split with Travoltas and some tracks on comps. Still I think this album is quite
good, well vocal could be better (if you ask me), but maybe it's what the kids like. Songs are pretty catchy and done very well. Apers have
nice production. So if you are into this kind of stuff, I think you will really like this band.

BITCH BOYS
...IN HEAT CD
2002
Papa ooh mow mow, papa ooh mow mow - Bitch Boys have REAL CD album now!!!!!!!!! After their great promo CDr (check reviews 19) here is one of the greatest modern surf albums! Production is really top and Bitch Boys are real surf
magicians. Album "...In Heat" is the best soundtrack for upcoming long hot summer. There are 20 killers on this CD including 3 new tracks
which I didn't hear on their promo CDr. "Shark Attack" sounds like soundtrack for surf action movie, energetic and intense. "My Bunny"
is real killer, nice and dreamy with such a beautiful melody. I like it so much and for me this is one of the most beautiful guitar instro songs
ever - you can compare it with famous "Sleepwalk" by Johnny And Santo. I'm sure that if this song was recorded in the beginning of 60s, it
would have been a big hit - maybe these guys were born little bit late. 3rd new track - last (bonus track) - is really beautiful version of
"Telstar". Besides Tornadoes I can't recall any band did this song so great. I highly recommend this CD to everybody, not only surf fans.

BOONARAAAS
A TRIBUTE TO BANANARAMA 3"
Thunderbaby Records 2001
I never saw such small vinyl like this one and I really don't like this format. It looks like CD, but it's record. It's very irritating to play it.
You have to be very careful with putting the needle on the record, 'cos there is not much space left, maybe it's a good joke, but it's not nice
joke. Ok - enough shit, now about music. The sleve says it's Bananarama tribute. Well I knew "Robert De Niro's Waiting" Bananarama
original. Boonaraas version is nice, but I like B side and "Cruel Summer" much more. I don't know the original, but Boonaraaas version
really kicks ass. I hope Boonaraaas will release new album soon and hope they won't use this shitty vinyl format in the future - it's just not
handy at all.

THE BUSTED LIVES
ONE FLAP DOWN CD
Blue Ball records 2002
The Busted Lives are not easy to describe. They play some kind of rockin' punk/garage punk. They have pretty catchy songs, but vocal is
not really my taste. I know it's a meter of taste, 'cos Mr. Mobutu sings pretty good. Anyway after few songs I got a bit used on it. It's
difficult to go through each song apart, 'cos they are more or less quite similar - that makes this CD a bit monotone. I like "Screwdriver,
You're Hired" 'cos it's really wild and "Damn You Weak Drunks" - in great 77 US punk style.

THE DEFECTORS
BABY GIMME LOVE CD
E.S.P. Recordings 2001
Hey mister postmen thanks a lot for bringing me this CD, 'cos it's really great and I like it so so much!!!!! This is garage punk the way it
should be. It's not difficult to understand why I like it so much - 'cos it's almost the same sort of garage punk like The Satelliters (one of my
favorite bands). "Baby Gimme Love" opens this CD. It's great r'n'b tune that moves your ass - fuzz guitars and 60s organ and great
screammy vocal on top of it - what else do you need?! Production is also great and Defectors know how to write songs. I just pressed play
and enjoy it. "You're So Sad" is also great with nice organ theme. Fuzz guitars almost blew up my speakers in "Live To See (Your Face)".
"Darling" is really great too - I like Mort Harder's voice, he can really scream like mine (and yours) favorite garage singers, maybe even
better. "C'mon C'mon" and "I Want You" are 2 more great garage punk killers, fast and furious with great riffs. "El Toro Mutante" is
groovy latin instro, a nice pause to take a deep breath and prepare your self for next half of this great album. "(I Can't Do) Another Mistake" is
Lust-O-Rama cover and Defectors did it marvelous. "Oh No" is one more furious punk killer, while "Go Go Slow" is great garage psych with
eastern sounds - I like this so much!!! Organ and guitar solo give nice psych dimension - only, ending with sitar and tabla could be much
longer, if you ask me. In "T.U.C." Defectors go further within their psych mood. Wow, I really like when they take some acid! "You
Belong To Me" is Elvis Costello cover, but I don't remember Costello was this good - ha ha ha. If all this was not enough for you, here is
"Say You're Mine" - one more great garage punk killer with great guitar riff. This CD has even a bonus, psychotic garage punk killer (title
unknown). I really like when Defectors use this nice oriental melodies in their music. This album is the proof that garage punk will never die -
long live The Defectors. Hey guys do you have this on vinyl???
