TEENAGE REJECTS
TEENAGE TRASH VOL.2 7"EP
Alien Snatch Records

Teenage Rejects are - what I call - the maximum you can get on one 7". You get 6 killer trash punk songs and for cheap. Teenage Rejects play super fast trash punk'n'roll like we used to get from Teengenerate, but then a bit more r'n'r. This is one more great release on Alien Snatch Records. This is a definite MUST HAVE, and don't wait too long to get it 'cos there are only 500 copies. Or buy it for big money later.

UPTIGHT
THE HITMAN EP
2001

Uptight is pretty good mod/power pop band from West Yorkshire with 60s influences. "Nothing But Nothing" is soul mod tune with nice Hammond organ in background. "The Hitman From Detroit Is On His Way" is wild mod punk. John's vocal on "The Grass Is Greener" reminds me a lot of Paul Weller. Musically this song also sounds like Weller's solo stuff. Closing song on this EP is "The Midnight Howls", nice and catchy tune. Today, when power pop seems to have huge revival, I'm sure Uptight will find their place in it and release the whole album.

UPTIGHT
EARLY DEMO'S CDr

Uptight's "Early Demo's" sounds slight different from their EP. It's little bit more brit pop, alternative guitar pop with mod and 60s psych pop influences. "Apples And Peaches" is mod psych pop while "The Flood" is more mod/power pop. "I Can't Be Bothered", "Where's 56" and "I've Had Enough" sound more UK indie rock from the other half of 80s. It's not bad, but personally I like Hitmen EP little bit more.

THEE VIRUS HOUSE
Promo CDr

Thee Virus House are from Manchester and they have their own specific sound based on garage punk, blues and raw psych with Stooges touch. This band you'll like, or you won't like. I'm still trying to get used on their sound. Vocal is really weird - sounds like somebody who's not getting out of pub. "Message Of Love" is really great and psychotic, fast and distorted with apocalyptic feeling. "Since I Follow You" is great blues in style of Tom Waits from his Raindogs period. I definitely like "Since I Follow You" 'cos it's raw and great. Last song "Julius Caesar" is one more great psychotic garage punk/r'n'b song. Anyway Thee Virus House deserve to be more popular. So give a chance to this "nuwavesoulcommandogaragepunkrocknroll".

THE WAISTCOASTS
LIVE @ KUT90.5FM 7"EP
Butterfly Records

The Waistcoasts are probably the most popular Dutch garage punk band at the moment, but I really can't understand why people like them so much. Well they ar not bad, but I really miss energy and groove in their music. First time I heard them was when I saw them live on some festival in Amsterdam and I was pretty disappointed. Technically they were good, they had good sound, but I missed something. Unfortunately this 7" didn't change my mind. Waistcoasts sound completely the same as on that gig. Well not my cup of tea.
