V.A. "GET THE GUITAR OFF YOUR ASS!!"
Time Tunnel Records 2002
This great comp from Time Tunnel Records really kicks ass. 8 crazy and wild French bands = maximum fun. Record starts with The
Jellybears and garage psychotic and catchy "Miss Wonda" (Miss Wonda is bass player in the band). Los Mutantes are superfast and
superfuzz superwild garage band. They remind me of Lightnin Beatmen's Monsters - and I love this. Stef And Arno are great fun. "El
Brujo De La Ola" is great 60s doo wop tune played by manic and trash band (really crazy screamy vocal) and it sounds sooooooooo great -
hey guys pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase do the whole album in this style. Wicked Movement are into garage psych in Fuzztones style with
harmonica and organ. Jakes are one more great garage trash band, pretty noisy, but very catchy with the singer who sounds like guy from
Swedish Creeps ("Enjoy The Creeps" LP) - really cool. And finally song in French. Wild Bunch is 77 style punk with nice poppy chorus
and rock'n'rolling guitar. The Magnetix are Mummies kinda garage trash with strong psychobilly influences - specially vocal - also great
band. The Wonky Monkees are 70s style glam punk - reincarnation of bands like New York Dolls, Heartbreakers and Hollywood Brats.
Do you need more words to describe how great they are?? On side B we have same 8 bands doing more great songs. Jakes are first with
"Best Buy". They sound more 77 style punk'n'roll here. The Wonky Monkees are sooooooo fucking great - I love this band and I want
more!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - "Jungle Lover" kicks ass!!!!! Los Mutantes - oh shit - they are also soooooo great. Hey guys stop doing comps - i want
whole albums by these bands!!!!!!!!! "In And Out" is psychotic garage trash psychobilly with great keyboard. Beware of Los Mutantes.
The Jellybears are here to make your summer happy - "Papapapapa" is definitely the best song for your lazy summer days. One more great
song by The Magnetix - kings of fuzz trash garagebilly. Unfortunately The Wild Bunch don't sing in French again, but "I wish She'll Be
Mine" is also very catchy 77 punk power pop. Trash and psychedelic space surf? Did you ever hear something like that? No? Well you
didn't hear Stef And Arno's "Altar De Poseidon" yet!! This MASTERPIECE comp ends with Wicked Movement and "Saturday Night Fish
Fry" - garage r'n'b which reminds me of great early Dr Feelgood stuff. I don't know what you think, but if I was you, I wouldn't wait any
second longer to get this LP. You have address below, so what the fuck are you waiting for!!!!!!

V.A. "LIFE'S A GAS - A TRIBUTE TO JOEY RAMONE" CD
AMP Records
Different from other "Tribute To..." CDs where the bands cover their favorite songs of one artist or band - "Life Is A Gas - A Tribute To
Joey Ramone" is the real "Tribute To..." CD where bands don't cover any Ramones song, but they dedicate songs to Joey. Honestly it's
really great way to make tribute CD. There are 31 bands on it and it's really impossible to name them all in this review. I'll try to name the
best moments from this CD - and there are lot of them. Kitty with Manges open this CD in Blondy-Ramones style. Band Gabba also did
nice power pop Ramones "Gabba Gabba". I also like "The CCC Took Joey Away" by Dirtshakes - nice pop punk in Ramones style.
Mach Pelican - Japanese trio from Australia - are pretty good too. I also like raw and primitive pop punk of Rat Fink. Detox Darlings with
their Stooges sound are nice refreshment. Emersons sing about their Ramones "T-Shirt" in Oi Ramones style. The Spazzys are catchy girl
Ramones pop punk band. Anna And The Psychomen did really great "We All Wanted To Be Rocked By Ramones" for this comp. I really
like it. I was a bit critical about Anna's vocal when I wrote review of their CD and 7", but here Anna sounds more than OK and I'm glad
about that. Triggerface sound a bit weird with their combination Ramones punk/sax. Dinks sound really retarded - this is a compliment.
And so I can go on. Anyway if you take this CD, you'll get over 70 minutes of good trans world pop punk in Ramones style - bands from
Australia, Canada, Sweden, Argentina, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Germany, UK, Brazil, ... Joey really deserved it and I'm glad that Ramones
influence is so huge.

SPLIT LOS NATAS/DOZER 7"
Black Juju
Black Juju is new label from Sweden and Los Natas/Dozer split is their first release. I really like this 7" 'cos both bands have their original
sound inspired by late 60s/early 70s r'n'r. Maybe somebody will sort Los Natas under stoner rock, but to me they sound too psychedelic
and too 70s and too weird to be compared with Fu Manchu or similar bands. "El Cono Del Encono" is sung in Spanish, so I guess they are
coming from Latin America or Spain. It's difficult to judge the band by only 1 song, but Los Natas sound like weird mushroom
hallucination and I would really like to hear more from this band that seems to be great. On the other side we have Dozer from Sweden and
their heavy glam punk version of "Sonic Reducer" (Dead Boys killer). Dozer version is also really great, a bit more MC5 style. I definitely
want to hear more from this band. Really great split!!

SPLIT THE MUTANTS/THE CANNIBALS 7"EP
Black Juju
Here is one more release of new label - Black Juju from Sweden. It's a split 7" again, this time 2 instro bands - our old pals from Finland,
The Mutants and The Cannibals (not the UK band from 80s). The Mutants are great as usual - they are doing "Monster Mutant", groovy
and trippy hard psych rock instro. Hey guys, when can we expect the full length album? After so many great 7"s, it's high time to think
about it - hee hee. Cannibals side begins with "Hardcore Prophet Stole My Virginity" which sounds like some mid 80s SST surf instro band
(Lawndale or Pell Mell). "Malaguena" and "Hot Rod Walk" have more 60s influences and I really like them.

SPLIT ROBERT AND THE ROBOTERS/LOS BANDITOS
NACKT IM TAXI 7"
Flying Revolversblatt 2001
My surf instro heroes are back. What a great split - 2 killer bands on 1 record. From the day I heard this record will come out I was waiting
for it impatiently. Finally, the record is here and it's great. And what I love about these 2 bands is that they always surprise you
with something different. Well it's not very clear to me if both bands are playing one song, or not. It doesn't sound like that, but there is
only one song title on the record. Well I listened to this record few times and there are some similarities in melody, but still it's not very
clear to me. But it doesn't really matter. Anyway Robert And Roboters side is weird. They recorded the song as if they are some big 70s
band playing on Wembley. It's a great joke and two of my friends fell for it. They are both into 70s, so I played them this song and asked
them if they new which band it was. Of course they didn't know - so they started to get worried about their pop music knowledge -
hahaha. Anyway if you can imagine Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin or Status Quo playing surf - you can imagine how this song sounds -
weird and great anyway. Los Banditos kept their "traditional" sound. Their side is more like surfin 70s soft porn music with sexy female la
la la vocal in the best french tradition. I heard their new album is out and I can't wait to get it. This 7" only made my appetite for new stuff
bigger.

V.A. THINKING OF ALICE - A TRIBUTE TO ALICE COOPER CD
Scatboy Records
Huh, I'm not the best person to review this CD, but I'll do my best. First, I'm not big fan of Alice. I like some of his early records like
"Billion Dollar Babies" and few records from this period. The rest (very early Alice's albums and later works) I really don't dig, but I
respect it. It's the same with this CD. I'm also not big fan of Confederacy of Scum and bands like Antiseen, but I respect it. The Dead
Kings open this CD with "Muscle Of Love" which is pretty good. Antiseen with Michael Bruce (ex Alice Cooper) are ok, maybe too slow
and heavy for my taste. Then comes my favorite The Frankenstein Drag Queens doing "Levity Ball" - not bad, but they can do much better.
It's the same with The Nerds - they can also do much better than this, I think it's the production that bothers me here - it's too nice. Flash
Tuxedo and their "Bilion Dollar babies" are pretty good, well it's one of my favorite Alice Cooper songs. This cover is pretty metallic like
early Blue Oyster Cult with really great vocal. Flamin' Anus (funny name) did also quite decent cover of "Cold Ethyl". Elvis X and Limecel are
ok, but I don't like Unpure - sounds like black metal, specially vocal. Orange Juice from The Crypt slowed down from their hyper fast
punk to nice glam punk version "Under My Wheels". I really like it and it's my fave on this CD. Hellstomper are so so - not my taste, but
Alonzo and Nick are really boring with their blah blah about Alice Cooper. Rancid Vet are also not my taste while Rejectors are much
better - nice and punky and I like their "Aspirin Damage" cover. Clang Quartet sound like american new traditional stuff like Giant Sand or
Talkabouts, not my taste. Cretin 66 close this CD with "Generation Landslide", pretty good version and one of better moments on this
tribute. As I said in the beginning, I'm really not the best person to review it, so I hope if you have different music taste than me you won't
take this review as something very objective. Nice artwork and good production and I'm sure nice collectors item for any Alice Cooper fan.
