CHICKEN MCHEAD
"CHICKEN MCHEAD" CDr

Chicken McHead - weird name. Well there is a story I got with this CD about a woman who found a deep-fried chicken head in a box of chicken wings. The band sound is weird too. They say Germans and Italians compared them with The Cramps, Gas Huffer, The Dead Kennedys, Mudhoney, Mojo Nixon, Zacherley. Ok here is what the Dutch say - hee hee. This is a funny mixture of lot of different stuff. First thing I would say when I hear "Running Of The Bulls" (1st song on CD) is that vocal is very much like Dead Kennedys and it's backed up with 60s sounding keyboard and punky guitars, well sometimes a bit surfy too. 2nd song is different - it's garagey and kinda dark, but also punky. I don't know what to say about this band. I don't know if I really dig this - not really my cup of tea. "Squawk" (3rd song) is too chaotic for me. "Twist Around" is better. I love the keyboard here and there is that Dead Kennedys vocal again. I think the keyboard is the strongest part of this band. It's really nice in "Monkey Bar" too. All songs have some dark sphere.

THE COLLYWOBBLES
"EXCELENT BARFIGHTERS" CD
Deadlock Records 2002

Rock'n'roll action from The Netherlands, and it's rockin' and rollin' high energy action. I love this band. I'm glad to hear that r'n'r didn't die here. Well I'm sure there are lot of bands, but in this country it's just not easy to hear them all. The Collywobbles exist from 1996 and I must say I'm really sorry I didn't hear about them before. They have one 7" on High School Refused Records and I hope to get it somehow. All I can say is: you MUST hear this fast helldriving-high energy loaded-selfdestroying-killer band. I love all songs on this CD and I really can't say which are my favorites - Collywobbles rock from the beginning till the end. If you need a ride straight to hell, get this CD and play it with volume to the max.

THE DUKES OF HAMBURG
"SOME FOLKS BY THE DUKES OF HAMBURG" LP
Gearhead

One more great LP by The Dukes Of Hamburg!! Actually, maybe the best one, or I don't know - I just like all their records - hahaha. If you have their other stuff, you must have this one too. You get a bunch of great great covers - it's covers I know, but Dukes play them really good, so what the fuck. You get killers like: Greensleeves, Mercy Mercy, Boom Boom, No No No No, Hey Joe, ... Dukes Of Hamburg just sound like the best beat/r'n'b 60s band.

THE DYSFUNCTIONALS
"THE JOHN F. KENNEDY NO.2 EP" CD
Pikelet Records 2002

The Dysfunctionals "UK based Garage Punk band" - as they say in their letter - are more punk to me. I love catchy and short "1986", but "Thurst" is too balady for my taste, well it does have great noisy moments, but it's a bit too kinda indie for me. Somebody may disagree here, so I'll say this is my taste. "Frustration" is good with great UK accented punk vocal. I miss something in production by this band. I don't know how they recorded these songs - probably very primitive and cheapest way possible. Well I don't mind primitive, but guitar sound should be better - it should rock more. "I'm 667" is nice slow punk. I really like the vocal - it reminds me of the old 70s punk bands. At the end of CD you get a big surprise - the hidden track. The Dysfunctionals go techno. Actually it's more drum'n'bass. You really don't expect this. It's good drum'n'bass with punk vocals. Only, I would also add guitars here and make it more punk and it would be killer.
