THE CHARGERS STREET GANG
HOLY THE BOP APOCALYPSE CD
Get Hip Recordings 2001

To be honest when I saw the cover art of this CD, I thought - oh no, probably some boring band. The cover art is just too arty and I don't get what it means. But that doesn't really matter cos I do dig the music. It's some kind of trash garage punk with indie influences. Songs are a bit noisy and trashy but also pretty catchy with "fuck off" attitude and here and there harmonica and brass.

CHUPACABRA JR
CDr

Huh, one more band with hard to define style. These guys really mix everything and have different songs. So I guess they play all stuff they like. This CD is weird mix of punk, metal, indie, funk, rap, rockabilly with mad vocal. My faves are: "Sex Guy" - crazy punk/metal/rap, "Folsom Prison Blues" - rockabilly/punk, "Secret Goats Head Lodge" - weird and moody instrumental and a total power pop killer "Where Did You Go?" - one of the best songs I heard lately, it's kind of song you don't hear every day - it's just a killer.

DEEP REDUCTION
2 CD
Get Hip 2001

Deep Reduction features members of Radio Birdman and The Stump Wizards. It's some kind of psych garage punk blues. Songs are mid tempo and somehow, to me, they all sound a like. It's like your listening to one long song. I prefer more punk sounding songs on this CD like "Black Tulip" or "City Kids". But I also like "Question Is" which has really nice melody and chorus and sounds a bit eastern.

DENNIS MOST AND THE INSTIGATORS
NOT THE NORMAL KIND CDr
2002

Dennis Most is in the bands since 1969. The Instigators were formed in 1979 and these are recordings from 2000. Ok, enough about history now something about their music. It sounds strange. It's punk/garage punk with lot of metal and psych influences. I guess they are big fans of Iggy And The Stooges, cos there are 2 Stooges covers on this CD. I like them. They sound different and funny with metalish guitar. There is also funny 3 in 1 "I Fought The Law/Secret Agent Man/Peter Gunn Theme". I must say that I prefer the covers on this CD and my fave is "I Wanna Be Your Dog". I can't say that Dennis Most is really my kind of stuff. The songs are too long for my taste. If they were all like "Heavy Metal Thunder Child" I would love them 'cos that's really great song.

DIXIE BUZZARDS
DIXIE BUZZARDS 10"
Black Juju 2002

Black Juju is one of the new labels I really dig. All stuff they released so far really kicks ass. You should already know Dixi Buzzards and you should know they are great band. It's great trashy and drunken blues/r'n'r/garage punk with great fucked up vocals. My favorites are: punky "Teenage Queen", "Shop Around" with nice and catchy chorus, beat influenced "Do The Square", crazy "Nothing For You" and garagey "Shake That Monkey". Black Juju didn't want to "waste my time with a boring press-release". They just say: "Everybody should own a copy"!
