THE NEDERBIETELS
KEJJE NAGAAN/COMIN' HOME
Tear It Up Records 2002
More nederbeat killers from The Nederbietels. And believe me this 7" is
so great that you should hurry to get a copy 'cos it's almost sold out
already. When you see the sleeve, you will forget all nederbeat
originals and you will want to have this 7". But you will see what I'm
talking about
when you open it. "Kejje nagaan" - do I have to say much about this
song? If you like 60s stuff you should already know it, 'cos Het is for
sure one
of the best nederbeat bands and Nederbietels play it really great. B
side is really nice cover of Sandy Coast "Comin' Home".

RAY DAYTONA AND GOOGOOBOMBOS
SPACE AGE TRAFFIC JAM CD
Mad Driver Records 2001
Wooooow this is really groovy. Organ driven garage and surf that moves
and shakes your body and soul. Really nicely played and good produced.
There are vocal and instrumental songs. I don't know what I like better
- all songs are good. My favorites are: "Texas Saucer Contact" (probably
because of the lyrics), "2 Is Better Than 1" with great oriental solo,
crazy and scary "Monster Stomp", nice surf instrumental with organ "Big
George", fuzzy "Spider In My Head" and spacey "Weird On The Moon". And I
must add that cover art is really nice.

RAY DAYTONA AND GOOGOOBOMBOS
A WILD SHOT OF ... CD
Mad Driver Records 1999
More surf and garage tunes from Ray Daytona And Googoobombos. This CD is
pretty much the same style like "Space Age Traffic". Here are my
favorites here: opening track "Speed Limit 65" with nice melody, great
fuzz garage "It's Too Late", harmonica driven "Jamie Lee" and "Here Come
The Cops", spacey "Rail-Vette" with groovy organ, short but nice
oriental sitar instro "Coyote", "Smell Of Zambra" real weird killer that
reminds
me of one of my favorite instrumental bands - Los Banditos, angry garage
"Tellin' Lies", great and catchy "X-Mas Eve" with harmonica - garage
punk the
way I like best and trippy and psychotic "Uncle Creepy Takes A Trip".
Well it seems that 10 out of 14 songs are my faves - hahaha. That means
only 1 thing - this CD is great.

SLOGGY
JALOPY-MUSIC 7"EP
Dull City Records 2002
Wooow I think this is something for me. I would describe this as
electronic garage r'n'r wave. Simply programmed drum computer, fuzz
guitars and
male and female vocals. My favorites are: raw and primitive "Squeez Me"
with great guitar riff that reminds me of "Shakin' All Over" and synth
noises and "Voodoo Queen" creepy and slow, more electro wave track in
French and English. Dull City is putting out some really great stuff
lately.
Make sure to check it out!!!

TINA AND THE TOTAL BABES
SHE'S SO TUFF LP
Sympathy For The record Industry
The reason I'm reviewing this record so late is that I didn't want to
pay 15 EUR (or more) in Dutch record shops for it. Sometimes the prices
are
really ridiculous. I got it in Demolition Derby shop for much less.
Anyway, I'm glad I bought it cos it's a fucking killer. This record
sounds and
looks like it's from late 70s. It's 100% great power pop. You have few
great covers - The Demons, Holly And The Italians, The Messengers. The
other songs are written by Travis Ramin who also produced this record.
What can I say - with Tina (Trashwomen, Bobbyteens) you can't be wrong.
I really love the way she sings. If you don't have this record yet - you
must get it !!! It sounds like the best band straight from the golden
age of
punk and power pop.

UPTIGHT
SLIGHTLY PSYCHO CD EP
2002
I love this new Uptight EP - it's a blast of mod and garage punk with
really great production. My favorite is "Kill Or Be Killed" with great
chorus.
But the other 3 songs are great too, specially "Teen Queen Slasher
Stomp". This is not just usual mod garage band. Uptight have roots in
60s, but
still they sound modern and that's what I like about them. It's not only
The Hives that should get on MTV. There are more great bands out there.
