ROBERT AND THE ROBOTERS "WILDE ORCHIDEE" CD, Toca Records 2003
Yes, yes, yes - finally new full length by this great instro combo from Germany, but why, why, why again only on CD?! Yeah, I know I'm vinyl freak - hee hee hee. I don't know if there are more bands with this sound, I only know Robert And The Roboters and Los Banditos and Bitch Boys are pretty similar. This sound is soooooooo great and unique and I just can't get enough of it. It's instrumental surf right, but on strange and weird way. When this East German formula starts working, your mind will be locked for anything else until the CD stops, and your body will shake and move on all possible ways. It's kinda sexy and romantic, groovy and spacey surf with really beautiful melodies. And hell, you really have to be good to be able to play guitar like this. Of course there is lot of cheeeeeeeesy organ, here and there great fuzz sound that will make your pupils go wiiiiiiiiide or even trumpet that will take you to Mexico. And surprise surprise - there is a vocal song too - great garage punk killer "Overdrive". I just can't decide which songs are my favorite - they are all brilliant. This is an album that you listen to from beginning to the end without stops - you turn off your phone and lock your door to make sure nobody can disturb you. Great, great, great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROCK'N'ROLL MACHINE "PUMP GAS / SHE GOT OH!" 7", Pitshark 2003
Rock'n'Roll Machine are already familiar to No Brains readers. They have great production and they sound like reincarnation of MC5 or Blue Cheer. They have 2 singers - girl and guy. A side - "Pump Gas" is a real killer. But I like "She Got Oh!" less. Too much guitar solo and hard rock influence for my taste.

ROYAL ROUTES "MEDIUM MIDDLE MADIE / HUMDRUM HUMBUG" 7", Goodbye Boozy Records 2003
New band with members of Scat Reg Boosters and Sexarenos. Sexarenos were ok, Scat Rag Boosters pretty good, but Royal Routes are really great. They are more similar to Scat Rag Boosters - it's trash punk rhythm and blues, but in my opinion better. Both songs are killers, B side with nice harmonica. I heard their demo recordings and I really hope that they will soon release a full length. Till then spin this 7" on and on......

SCAT RAG BOOSTERS "BOOGIE MAN" 7"EP, Kryptonite Records
As the sleeve says "Records that sound like shit, records that sell like shit" - I don't know about selling, but sound is 100% pure lo-fi. Who cares 'cos it fits perfectly with music. "Boogie Man" is cool and primitive voodoo rhythm and blues, "Lonesome Party" has Crampsy horror sphere - great psychobilly instro. B side - "I'll See You Dead" and "What You Do" is great harmonica r'n'b garage.

SINGING DOGS "RIGHT NOW / YOU TEAR ME OUT / OUT OF CONTROL / TEENAGE WEREWOLF" 7"EP, Kenrock Records
This is totally lo-fi release. I mean can it go more lo-fi from here - the sleeve is copied on inner side of Silver Kings sleeve (KEN11) - this is what I call recycling - even B side of vinyl is left empty for what ever comes next - hahahaha. But what the fuck, Singing Dogs really kick ass in the wain of Superfly T.N.T.s, Spider Babies. It's 2 men band from Italy - and definitely best 2 men band!!!! Lately I got few pretty cool 2 men / 1 man bands, so I guess I better change my mind about this 'invention'. It's all White Stripes fault. John Peel and NME should better like Singing Dogs, but the world is always upside down. Maybe they didn't like B side sticker - I'm not gonna tell you what's on it - you'll have to buy this 7" - it's probably very cheap.
