| THE BLACK JETTS "BLEED ME", Dead Beat Records 2003 |
The Black Jetts are nice surprise. Their music is cool mix of 60s garage and kbd punk - sounds like early Stones and New York Dolls, but also they have something nice and old fashioned that reminds me of Back From The Grave compilations. Still Black Jetts sound fresh and cool. Songs are really marvelous - catchy - simply perfect r'n'r songs. I also really love the vocal. They have keyboard on lot of tracks, but unfortunately there are no details about who played them. Anyway it goes perfect with lead and rhythm guitar. It's really impossible to say which song is my favorite. This record sounds like the best of - all songs are the best! Highly recommended!!!!!!! I only have the best words about this album!!!!!!!!

THE BLACKS "BLACK SNAKE" 7"EP, Zaxxon Virile Action |
Blacks are bluesy garage trash punk with screamy vocal and non catchy songs. It's not bad, it's not good - it's ok. Recordings are from 1997 and 1999, but it took a while till they came out on record.

| THE BLOWTOPS "BLACK STATIC" CD, Big Neck Records

Blowtops are not unknown to No Brains Zine readers. They are trash punk band from Buffalo - USA. 12 fast noisy songs with touch of blues r'n'b are enough for good album. Noisy guitars, screamy vocal and mostly fast, up-tempo, trashy songs - well album doesn't last very long - less than 30 min., but there could be some more variations in songs - they are too much a like. Blowtops' music has better function on 7" than on full length record/CD.

| BOLIDES "SCIENCE UNDER PRESSURE" CD, 2003 Dionysus |
Here is the first album of one of my favorite scientific weirdo garage wave bands. The Bolides definitely have their original style which is great combination (mutation) of early Devo and Mummies + some crazy experiment they came up with in their lab. What I really like about them is the strange way they use an analogue synth. "Science Under Pressure" contains 6 songs from their demo CD I already reviewed "Progress Through Mutation", so in this review I'll concentrate more on other tracks (new tracks for me). "Genetic Make-Up" is cool analogue synth garage punk instro that opens this masterpiece of album. "Push The Latency" is cool garage wave - raw and primitive with nice organ. "Pills" is also a new track - sounds like garage kraut punk - like Mummies meet Can - really cool and psychotic psychedelic. "Nurse Standby" is what I call Devo Mummies mutation. "Banned From B > I > R < T" is more garage punk with cool analogue synth noises, unfortunately not as much as I would like. But closing track "Finite Automata" is 100% the way I like - lot of synth here - great scientific instro, one of my favorite Bolides tracks. I do have one objection to Bolides - I really miss "Evil Twin" on this album - it was bonus track on CD and one of your greatest songs. But, anyway this album is a real masterpiece and I would really love to see this band live.

| BRANKO "COCHE DE CARRERAS" 7"EP, 2003 Black Juju
Branko is weird Swedish band. It's groovy voodoo psych fuzz bongo congo instrumental music - 60s surf garage trash mutation. Not really easy to describe, but supercool to listen to it. One of the weirdest records I ever got for review. 4 songs with crazy names like: "Das Erotiche Furer", "Kaga Mok Mok", "Mezcal". They sound very old fashioned but still fresh - primitive voodoo rhythms, lot of congas tam tams, great fuzz guitar and groovy melodies recorded raw and primitive. The whole concept and the record is very charming - great music for parties, but also to listen any other time. Don't dig old dusty stuff - just get Branko!!
