SLOGGY "THE SINGLES - COLLECTION" CD, Hell On Wheels Recordings
Hell On Wheels Recordings is label of Viviane and Carlo of Sloggy. This CD contains songs from their 4 singles and most of them are already sold out. Unfortunately I never saw any of these in local record shops and that's why this CD is great chance for all of us to meet Sloggy. I only have their 3rd 7" on Dull City Records in my collection. Sloggy is cool and original band from Luxembourg. They developed their own style which I like a lot. It's weird mix of lo-fi electro new wave with 60s garage and pop. Each song is a real killer. Rhythm box is programmed very primitive and there is lot of fuzz guitar. They sound modern and old fashioned, punk and psychotic at the same time. The CD sleeve says that all tracks are produced and recorded in living room, but production is pretty good. I really hope I'll manage to get the rest of their 7"s.

SMUT PEDDLERS "TEN INCH" 10", Dead Beat Records 2003
Smut Peddlers are Californian punk band somewhere between old and new school. It's good produced punk with catchy songs, good recorded guitars, vocals and drums, fast songs - but all together a bit monotone. I miss something. It's a bit too hardcorish, too much lyrics - you know what I mean - too many words that hardly fit in 1 song.

SPEEDFREAKS "... COME OUT AND PLAY !!!" CDr
Speedfreaks are from Sweden. In their promo sheet they say that Motorhead is their favorite band. So you can get an idea about how The Speedfreaks sound and what you can expect from them - fast and heavy rock'n'roll. Speedfreaks do it very good, they have good songs, well produced but dirty sound, cool loud guitars and OK singer - well it's not like Lemmy, but good enough. You get a load of high octane speed rock on this CD - 13 original songs + 2 covers (Zodiacmindwarp and Nazareth). All songs are even good, but still I have some favorites: great Nazareth cover "Somebody To Roll" (to be honest I don't know the original, but I don't think it sounds this good), superfast and noisy "Ballistic" and "Leadhelmet" that is recorded live and Speedfreaks sound as good as Motorhead.

THE STAR AND THE KEY OF INDIAN OCEAN "ROCK N' ROLL FIASCO" CD, Green Cookie Records 2003
The Star And The Key Of Indian Ocean is new pearl of euro surf scene. They are coming from France and this is their 2nd CD. Influences of US 60s surf bands like Trashmen and Super Stocks are nicely mixed with precise and crystal clean exotic sound of 60s euro surf bands. You can feel the warmness of south seas breeze, sun, sea and summer - specially in song Thessaloniki. Beautiful guitars, fast rhythms, exotic melodies and here and there smell of burned rubber on warm asphalt - every song on this CD is killer. Just listen to 'Squad Bike', 'Surfari', 'Baut Les Mains', 'Mega Tsunami' ... My favorite is definitely beautiful and romantic 'French Kiss, Tahitii Love'. Great cover of 'The Crusher' (Novas) closes this cool CD. The Star And The Key Of Indian Ocean is not only instro band - they can also sing and pretty good, well in English with nice French accent that makes it sound more exotic. Anyway if you didn't have enough of this very hot summer 2003 - 'Rock'n'Roll Fiasco' is something you need!

THE STEREO JUNKS "SHUT UP N' SIT DOWN" CD-EP, Star Trash Records 2003
This is the tallest band in Finland. At least that's what they wrote in their promo sheet. Anyway it's good that these guys don't play basketball, but rock'n'roll. They do it pretty good! Stereo Junks music is mix of loud rock'n'roll, bit of 70s hard rock and punk / garage punk. They have typical Scandinavian sound we hear from labels like Bad Afro or White Jazz, but who cares it's still good to my ears. This band sounds fresh and noisy, but rockin' enough to check their forth coming releases and gigs.
