First time I heard about Alien Snatch Records was when I bought Teenage Rejects 7". That 7" is so great and Alien Snatch logo looked weird
enough to make me look for more. What I like about Alien Snatch Records is that they are not strictly specialized in one kind of punk rock, like
many labels today. They released lot of different stuff, from trash punk, glam punk to power pop. I like some of their releases more and some
less - but that has to do with my taste and nothing else. One thing is for sure - Alien Snatch means high quality r'n'r. There is no reason for doubt
when you see their stuff in record shop - just take it. You can recognize it by alien logo. Unfortunately I don't have all their records, but
here is what I've got:
|
THE KIDNAPPERS - RANSOM NOTES AND TELEPHONE CALLS LP
The Kidnapers are one of the latest Alien Snatch releases. They play fast and raw trashy punk'n'roll with some power pop influences. They
kinda sound like more punk power pop Spider Babies. great trashy guitar sound and catchy songs. My favorites are: "A Bit Of Your Love",
"Midnight Ritz", "Teenage Fever", "Excuse Me" and "Maximum Rock-n-Roll".
|
YUM YUMS - FUNZONE 10"
This is one more really great Yum Yums record. Yum Yums are definitely one of the best power pop bands ever. They have great melodies, very
loud guitars and great vocal. My favorites on this record are: punky "9999999 Tears", catchy "Just Another Girl" and "Come On And Shake".
You get this 77/78 (Buzzcocks) feeling when you listen to this record.
|
FEVERS - GAAN DAAR WAAR DE MEISJES ZIJN LP
Fevers are American band with Dutch titled album, btw it means "Go There Where The Girls Are". They are mid tempo power pop with Troggs
touch and very catchy songs. It's difficult to choose favorites cos all the songs are really good. Well there is one song that keeps hanging in my
head - "Love's Gettin Better".
|
MIGHTY IONS - FACE RAKIN' ROCK LP
According to the book you get with this record, Mighty Ions were formed as back up band for GG Allin, but GG Allin never showed up to
practice with them, so they decided to start on their own. Well 2 guys from the band played on first GG Allin album and they wrote "Don't
Talk To Me". As far as I can understand this album is mix of old tracks and new re-recorded stuff. But it all sounds 77 to me - I can't hear any
difference. It all sounds so vintage, and you can't even hear the difference in vocal. It's great US KBD punk with great lyrics.

THE LOCOMOTIONS - THE LOCOMOTIONS LP
Locomotions are some kind of mix between garage, trash punk and 77 punk with slight new wave influence in some songs. They are fast, raw
and they will scream the ears off your head. My faves are: "Come And Get It", "On My Knees", "Make Up Your Mind", "I'm On Fire" and
"She's Got Her". And as bonus you get The Locomotions play really great, fast punk'n'roll version of "Locomotion" - one of the best versions of
this song and my no.1 fave on this LP.

V.A. "CALIFORNIA AIN'T FUN NO MORE" LP
WOOOOOOOWWWWW this is a LP you really must get. When I saw names like Loose Lips, Radio Reelers, The Bobbyteens, The Flakes ... I
knew this must be good and I was wondering about other bands. Loose Lips are one of the best glam punk bands I heard lately. Right after them
you get heavy dose of high energy from The Easys. Demonics are more pop punk/power pop and The Pinkz are nice girl glamy power pop. The
Superbees - raw punk rock with great effect on vocal. The Rehabs are rockin' and rollin' on high energy. And hell I love Radio Reelers - fucking
great punk rock with great songs, great sound - all great! Well, do I have to tell you about Bobbyteens? No! You should know them and you
should know that they are great. They are followed by Loudmouths - one more famous band that kicks ass. The Flakes - was any of Russell's
bands bad - noooooooo - great glam punk rock, just the way I love it. More great punk rock from The Stupor Stars. Bitchschool are nice girl glam
rock. This great LP ends with funny sounding bubble gum power pop by Fevers.

THE KAMIKAZES - TIME FOR ROCK'N'ROLL 7"EP
These 4 kamikazes from Montreal really know what real r'n'r action is. It's not necessary to say much here - if you like punk rock on its best,
just get off your lazy ass and get this 7", cos if you still don't have this 7", your brains need some shakin'. And for girls there is nice punk love
tune with harmonica - "I Wanna Be With You" - don't think you'll be able to resist these guys.
|
DIRTSHAKES - THE KICKS ARE BACK 10"
Dirtshakes are glamy 77 style punk with slight touch of power pop. They seem to have something with 80s and pinballs. Well if you like
pinballs, you'll love the sleeve + you also get Dirtshakes pinball poster. And about 80s, well they seem to like to sing about 80s - something that
happened on December 18th 1984 and they think that "The 80s Weren't That Cool". One of my favorites here is great and catchy "I'm In Love
With Your Green" - "you're a rich girl and I'm in love with your green" - hahaha.
|
RIFF RANDELS - LETHAL LIPGLOSS 10"
When The Donnas go too metalish , there is no need to worry. Here are The Riff Randells with 100% pure punk - great and catchy as hell and
probably the best girl fronted punk band at the moment. Better production than on their 7" I have, so it sounds more poppy - specially the
vocal that is really nice and clear, but that doesn't matter cause Kathy (I think) sings really great! Be aware these girls/guy will make your heart
feel nice and warm and these tunes will stick in your head and you won't be able to get rid of them. My favorites are "M.O." and "Psycho
Boyfriend".
|
TEENAGE REJECTS - TEENAGE TRASH VOL.2 7"EP
Teenage Rejects are - what I call - the maximum you can get on one 7". Teenage Rejects play super fast trash punk'n'roll like we used to get from Teengenerate, but then a bit more r'n'r. All 6 songs are real killers. This is a definite MUST HAVE, if you manage to find it cos it's already sold out.
|
THE JEWWS - I NEED YOUR LOVIN (BUT I DON'T NEED YOU) 7"EP
This is probably one of the greatest garage trash bands ever. If you like Mummies and similar stuff you must not miss this pearl. "I Need Your Lovin" is short and furious trashy garage punk with great vocal, great guitar, great rhythm - everything great - song you should play 10 times a day - it's a killer and a hit on my turntable. B side is not much different - Jewws are kickin' and rollin', "We Come Out At Night" has great riff and "Twist Party" is so fast - I don't know how they play this. Try to get this one somehow, cos this is one more Alien Snatch release that's sold out.
